Who is Paige Butcher? Eddie Murphy shares insight into married life

Legendary comedian and celebrated actor Edward Regan Murphy, commonly known as Eddie Murphy, in an exclusive interview with People Magazine, opened up about his long career and married life. The 64-year-old comedian, whose brand-new Netflix documentary, Being Eddie, directed by Angus Wall, released on November 12, 2025, in a candid conversation, discussed his Hollywood journey from a stand-up comedian to an A-list actor.

Considered one of the most successful and best comedians ever, Eddie Murphy began his career as a stand-up comic, eventually transitioning into acting. While the Beverly Hills Cop star will complete 50 years in Hollywood in 2026, Eddie sheds light on his long career in both films and comedy, which catapulted him into global stardom. The documentary also features other high-profile personalities, including Dave Chappelle, Jamie Fox, Pete Davidson, Chris Rock, Tracy Morgan, Kevin Hart, and others.

During his interview with People Magazine, Eddie Murphy also discussed his married life and talked about his children and how much they mean to him. The renowned comedian turned actor, who is the father of ten children, has been married to Paige Butcher since July 2024. He shares a son, Max, and a daughter, Izzy, with her.

According to Today, Paige, born in Perth, Australia, is an actress and a model. She has starred in movies such as Big Momma's House 2 and Something's Gotta Give. The Trading Places actor and Paige Butcher began their romance and started dating in 2012. The couple eventually broke the news of their engagement in 2018 and tied the knot in 2024 in Anguilla.

While Eddie shares two children with Butcher, he shares five children with his first wife, Nicole Mitchell Murphy, with whom he split in 2006. The Norbit actor shares his oldest son, Eric, with Paulette McNeely and another son, Christian, with Tamara Hood. He shares a daughter, Angel, with Mel B.

Eddie Murphy opened up about his big family and ten children

Eddie Murphy, who starred in multiple successful movies like The Nutty Professor, Beverly Hills Cop, 48 HRS, and Dreamgirls, during his interview, talked about his ten kids and shared how proud he is of them. The Academy Award-nominated actor said:

"It just happened. I never knew I would have 10 kids, but now it’s the best thing ever. If you can afford that many kids, you should have as many kids as you can afford. That is fun. my children are all decent people. I don’t have one rotten one, and I would like to think that they got some of that from me."

While talking about what makes him happy, Eddie said:

"Just being Eddie. I love having my family around, and I love that I’ve been in this amazing business for so long. Coming from super humble beginnings and having this longevity, just to be around and see all the different changes and all that stuff. There’s just so much to be happy about."
