On October 3, Cardi B shared her song, Magnet, in an X post. One X user, @Emmelmentor1, commented below the post:
“You have to wait for pardi to come write for you !!”
Replying to the social media user’s comment, Cardi wrote:
“The same Pardi she wanted to write for her???… But she had to settle for current writer KT.”
The rapper also attached a screenshot of a conversation between rapper JT and seemingly Pardi, whose real name is Pardison Fontaine. The conversation was from 2021, and JT reached out to him, saying that she wanted to get in the studio. In other news, JT released a diss track against Cardi, a section of which was played by Akademiks.
Meanwhile, Cardi B and Pardison Fontaine have been frequent collaborators on various musical tracks. Earlier this year, they released a song named Toot it Up. At the time, he shared an Instagram post about the release, saying:
“You guys keep asking for ‘Toot It.’ Where’s ‘Toot It’? Where’s ‘Toot It’ at? Can we get ‘Toot It’? Here go the song, here go ‘Toot It.’ Take it, play it, do whatever y’all gon’ do with it, shake a**. Here go the song, don’t ask for that sh– no more.”
In 2018, they collaborated on Backin’ It Up and Bodak Yellow, which was released a year before that.
Pardison Fontaine talks about working with Cardi B
In an interview with REVOLT earlier this year, Fontaine was asked about Toot it Up and his experiences working with Cardi B. He said:
“We get to go through all types of records, but it seems like whenever we cook up one for us, it's normally hype. It's normally fun. It's a good time.”
He went on:
“I feel like that's just the side of us that comes out when we are working together. Always something fun that people can move to. This is one of many, but the vibe is always there with us.”
Speaking to Complex in 2023, Pardison Fontaine reflected on his thoughts about Cardi B being a marketing genius. He said that she would have become famous no matter what path she took. He explained that she was one of the first people to bring the kind of bold energy seen online presently.
He said she started by simply using her phone to speak her mind, and she built her image by being completely herself without holding back.
Pardison Fontaine also said that when he was starting, he had a song called Oyyy. At the time, Cardi B made a video on Instagram at a gas station, dancing and having fun to the song while sitting in a regular car. People started commenting on the car and the situation, and Pardi thought it was really smart. He said he couldn’t have done it himself and thought it was either clever or lucky.
