Peter Hooton is the founder and the lead singer of the British band, The Farm, which was formed in 1983. The band scored several hits in the early 1990s, including All Together Now and Groovy Train.

Peter Hooton's son, Thomas Hooton, was sentenced to 10 years and eight months in prison on July 25 at the Liverpool Crown Court. Thomas pleaded guilty to conspiring to supply heroin, cocaine, cannabis, and ketamine. He had been messaging criminals on EnroChat to deal drugs worth around $1.7 million.

Thomas had 41 different names within EnroChat and also supplied drugs to criminals across Scotland and northeast and southern England.

Earlier, Thomas would broker multi-million-pound drug deals for organized criminals using an encrypted messaging device. Thomas was using the name "Own Raptor," and cops were able to identify him by linking messages on his account to the identity of his father, Peter Hooton.

Specialist investigators pieced together a number of clues, including pictures of his dad with the Champions League trophy, to identify him. Hooton, in texts, spoke about driving a Black Audi A3 and that his "arl fella" arranged insurance for him. As per official checks, it was Peter who had insured a black Audi 3 for his son.

More about Peter Hooton

Peter Hooton, father of Thomas Hooton, is the vocalist of Liverpool-based group The Farm. Peter founded the band in 1983 and released two top singles in 1990. The band broke up in 1996 only to re-form in 2004.

Before gaining recognition as an artist, Peter worked as a youth worker in the Cantril Farm estate. In 1981, he was the founding editor of The End, a music and football fanzine, which targeted a young, working-class audience.

With the fanzine, Peter started a career in writing and wrote about football, music, and the working-class culture in Liverpool. He is also the supporter of the local football club, Liverpool FC.

Hooton is a committee member of Spirit of Shankly, a Liverpool Football Club supporters union. The club was created in 2008, with the aim of ousting the club's controversial owners, Tom Hicks and George N. Gillett, Jr.

He has also been involved in campaigns in Liverpool to boycott The Sun newspaper over its coverage of the Hillsborough Disaster. In 2019, along with 34 other musicians, Hooton signed a letter, which endorsed the Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn in the 2019 UK general election.
