Daisy Fuentes, once an amazing presence on MTV, married ‘80s heartthrob Richard Marx in 2015.

According to Women’s Weekly, Marx had noticed Daisy when she was already a popular model and television host. Back then, Daisy was also the first Latina VJ on MTV. But at the time, Richard was still married to Cynthia Rhodes, and their paths didn’t cross.

Richard told People Magazine in 2021:

“It wasn’t just that she was so beautiful. It was her vibe.”

He added:

"I remember thinking, ‘I bet we would get along great.’ I always had a fascination with her."

Richard Marx and Daisy Fuentes collaborate on new track "Magic Hour" ahead of 2026 album

Richard Marx released his new single, Magic Hour, on August 4 during the finale of Dancing with the Stars Australia. The Latin jazz-inspired track, which combines danceable rhythms with a sultry mood, is the first single from his upcoming album, After Hours, scheduled for release in January 2026.

What sets Magic Hour apart is the collaboration between Marx and his wife, Daisy Fuentes, who co-wrote the song’s lyrics. In a press statement, the track was described as:

"The song captures the effortless alchemy of seduction, romance, and an unforgettable melody - qualities that have long defined Marx’s most timeless work."

The inspiration for the song came to Marx during a hike, a method he has adopted to break free from the traditional songwriting process. He shared:

"Instead of locking myself in a windowless room like I used to, I head outside and do a hike. It’s as if the melodies and lyrics I’m searching for are hiding behind trees and bushes."

The melody appeared to him almost immediately, but it took some time to settle on the perfect lyrics, something “s*xy,” as he described it.

Richard Marx and Fuentes were on a break from his tour when they found themselves at a secluded resort on Lizard Island in Australia. The creative spark hit during a beachside walk, and within 30 minutes, the song’s idea was fully formed. Marx shared:

"Over martinis in the restaurant, we finished the lyrics."

For Richard Marx, the key to a strong relationship lies in truly feeling like you have earned the love you share. Speaking with People Magazine in March 2025, ahead of his co-headlining performance with Rick Springfield at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, the singer-songwriter reflected on the near-decade-long marriage he’s enjoyed with Daisy Fuentes. Richard explained:

"We had to wait a long time to find each other." "We are best friends, but we never, ever take each other for granted or lose sight of the fact that we are in love and that we're lovers. So romance and seduction and all of it, even after we've been married almost 10 years, but we've been together almost 12 years."

The couple, who got married on December 23, 2015, in Aspen, Colo., has been together for almost 12 years. Despite the years that have gone by, Richard said their bond remains rooted in mutual admiration. He continued:

"We are the biggest cheerleaders for each other."

He added:

"And I think that that's really important is to, if you're going to go down a journey with someone, it's got to be somebody you really are rooting for. I want nothing but the best for her, and I know it's the same in return, so I just feel like we got really lucky finding each other."
