Actress Diane Ladd, best known for her roles in Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore and Rambling Rose, passed away on November 3, 2025, at the age of 89. This was three months after the demise of her husband, Robert Charles Hunter. When she died, she was accompanied by her daughter, actress Laura Dern.

Robert Charles Hunter was Ladd’s third husband. The couple got married in 1999, and they stayed together until Hunter was killed in July 2025. They were in a relationship that went beyond their personal lives, since they also collaborated in their line of work in their production firm, Exxcell Entertainment.

Hunter was an actor and author, sometimes and once a businessman. He spent most of his life in the corporate world before venturing into the entertainment world. His life is the result of business leadership, creativity, and commitment to his family.

Robert Charles Hunter was born on April 2, 1948, in Germany. He had a prosperous career in the business world, where he worked for more than 20 years at PepsiCo. Hunter was the CEO of PepsiCo Food Systems for 11 years when he was in the company, which is a total of 23 years. His area of specialization was food service management and operations, and he was admired for his leadership in the company.

Hunter then changed his life by becoming a writer and entertainer after quitting the business world. He founded Exxcell Entertainment together with Diane Ladd in Ojai, California. The company of production was autonomous, working on the projects, and expressed the mutual interest of the couple in storytelling and film.

Hunter also explored acting. He also briefly appeared as a detective in 2006 in the film Inland Empire by David Lynch. In the film, Diane Ladd and Laura Dern were both featured, one of the rare occasions where the family appeared in a project.

In 1999, Robert Charles Hunter and Diane Ladd got married. They were married for over 25 years and shared a deep personal and professional bond. The couple frequently collaborated and supported each other’s careers, even co-founding a production company. Their partnership reflected mutual respect, shared vision, and genuine creative synergy.

Hunter was also an author besides his business and entertainment activities. He published two novels, Curious Journey: Origins (2008) and Curious Journey: Energy (2011). These were his works that displayed his interest in science, philosophy, and the human experience. His text was a second dimension to his career and his individual passions.

Hunter died on July 31, 2025, at 77 years old, when he was visiting his children in Fort Worth, Texas. His death deeply affected Ladd, who followed him in death just three months later. Their long marriage and partnership left a lasting mark on their family and the entertainment community.
