Robert Irwin knows what he wants in a partner.
In a profile for People Magazine this week, the wildlife conservationist got candid about who he thinks he might end up with:
"My mom and dad met when she was this American tourist coming over to Australia, and that's also how my sister met her husband," he said, referring to his father, the late Steve Irwin and his wife, Terri, and his sister, Bindi, and her husband, Chandler Powell. "I've been saying, when is that going to happen for me?!"

Robert Irwin, the younger one of the late Crocodile Hunter's kids, made headlines this past April when he posed for Bonds Australia's underwear campaign in nothing but his briefs. Since then, he admitted to People Magazine, the family has seen a major drive in footfall at the Australia Zoo, where Irwin works.
"Oh yeah, it was very funny... it ended up creating, well let's just say the visitation at the zoo was really good and it was a lot of Americans. It was great," he said.
As for how he felt about the reception to his underwear ad, he told People Magazine:
"I did not expect the reaction it got!" Robert Irwin mused. "Yes, I’m all grown up, and I want to start tackling bigger projects and discussing the big and important issues. I feel like my whole mission of conservation is being listened to on an even larger scale, and it’s more important than ever to come together with a sense of kindness toward each other and toward the planet. "
The 22-year-old also spoke with The Australian Women’s Weekly in February 2024, where he admitted that his parents' marriage was his end goal. Describing them as “a force to be reckoned with," he said:
“For me, I look at Mum and Dad as my absolute role models in many departments, including the relationship department. That’s the goal – two people living side by side and smashing life together with such a sense of mutual admiration and respect. Who are constantly lifting each other up and never second-guessing? There was nothing they wouldn’t do for each other, and they were so equal on everything.”
Just this April, he confirmed to People Magazine that he was still single and was on the lookout for "the one."
“It’s funny, I’m at this point in my life where I’m like, I’m so open to that, but I’m just waiting for the stars to align,” he said at the time.
Speaking with Stellar Magazine in December 2024, he echoed his longing for a meaningful bond:
'My mum and dad were just this incredible power couple. And then I look at Bindi and Chandler, and it's like they're literally the same person. They're made for each other. I mean, if that isn't your couple's goals, what would be?' Robert Irwin mused.
Despite wanting to find the "perfect person," Robert Irwin did assert that he wasn't planning on rushing into anything.
'I really want to find the perfect person, but I'm not in any rush for it. I'm very open to it. The thing that I've come to discover in that space is you've just got to let it happen,' he said.
