Sarah Silverman recently shared details related to her relationship with comedian and television producer Rory Albanese. She shared an unlikely tale of their origin as a couple during the COVID-19 pandemic, when both of them got close to each other by playing Call of Duty: World War II.
Rory Albanese is a well-known personality in the comedy and television scene. He is a nine-time Emmy Award winner who has served as a writer and executive producer in his long run at The Daily Show.
According to his own website, Albanese began his journey as a production assistant in 1999. He later climbed through the ranks to become a co-executive producer on the show alongside Jon Stewart. He then went on to work on The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore, where he served as executive producer and correspondent.
Aside from his achievements, Albanese is also an accomplished stand-up comedian. He has headlined across the country, opened for Lewis Black, starred in his own Comedy Central Presents track, and entertained the troops in Afghanistan during the USO tour. Now, he is supposedly focused on pursuing his stand-up career full-time.
Silverman opened up about her own life and the stages of grief she went through since losing her father and stepmother in her new Netflix comedy special, Postmortem. Albanese, she says, provided constant support throughout and helped her navigate one of life’s most difficult times (People).
The complete story behind Rory Albanese and Sarah Silverman's early relationship
According to Silverman, her relationship with Rory Albanese began in the year 2020. At that time, she was supposedly stuck in New York City due to quarantine. She was far away from her Los Angeles home, and entertainment options became limited. Therefore, she found solace and distraction in video games.
After buying a console from GameStop, Silverman, who hadn't played video games since the Nintendo 64 days, made the decision to jump in feet first into modern gaming.
"I went to GameStop, and I hadn't played video games since Nintendo 64, but I bought a console, and I figured I would learn how to do video games," She told People.
Rory Albanese supposedly saw her gaming posts and reached out via social media. He offered to teach her online multiplayer gaming and started playing with her.
"Rory [Albanese] who I knew, but I didn't remember what he looked like, we had hung out once... He direct messaged me and was like, 'I play that. Do you have headphones?' I said, 'Yes, but I don't know how to do it.' And he talked me through it." She said.
The two started playing together every night, and fast forward to today, the couple are dating each other. In the years since, Albanese has relocated into Silverman’s Los Angeles home.
