Who is Saffron Barker? British influencer claims she was robbed during US raid trip

Saffron Barker, British YouTuber and influencer, has disclosed that she and her partner were robbed while passing through the United States. The event allegedly occurred when they stopped at a well-known Route 66 cafe and were stranded without their passports, cash, and other necessary items.

The 24-year-old lifestyle and travel vlogger Saffron Barker was traveling from Los Angeles to Las Vegas by car with her boyfriend, model Josh Miln. In Yermo, California, the couple had stopped briefly at the famous Peggy Sue's 50s Diner. But when they got back to their rental car, they were horrified to discover that the rear window was smashed and almost everything they owned had been taken.

The YouTube video was titled:

"this holiday was a nightmare. Emergency surgery, we got robbed & they stole EVERYTHING"

Saffron Barker also shared a disclaimer at the start of the video:

“Before this vlog starts properly, I just want to let you know that this video is a little bit all over the place. You’ll understand why as soon as it gets started because it, honestly, was just bad luck after [bad] luck. However, I still wanted to post it as you’ll see throughout the video [that] we tried to make the best out of a lot of bad situations, which I think we did a good job of.”

Talking about the incident on her vlog, she said:

“We walked outside, and the car was completely smashed in,” she recalled. “Obviously, this is a car that we had rented. And inside was every single thing, I feel, that I own. I mean, our passports, cards [and] the list could go on and on. I mean, I genuinely have nothing, like handbags. The only thing we brought into our restaurant was our phones.”

Their ID cards, passports, cash, credit cards, clothes, gadgets, and contact lenses were among the things that were seized. They had to rush for emergency travel documents after the heist left them stuck without access to necessities.

Following the incident, the couple proceeded to encounter challenge after challenge. Saffron Barker claimed that at first, the hotel wouldn't allow her to check in even though she had a digital copy of her ID. She said:

“They didn’t actually even want to let us into the hotel because they were like, ‘But you don’t have a physical ID, even though I have my picture. That was a hassle, but at the same time, we keep saying how lucky we are that we could have been held at gunpoint [or] these people could have been following us.”

Saffron Barker talked about how hard it was to maintain composure in a foreign country in her vlog, particularly when she was without money or the necessary paperwork.

Barker and Miln cautioned people about the risks associated with stopping at well-known roadside attractions in the United States. They said that the theft didn't seem to be a singular occurrence.

"These people could have been following us. I think honestly it happens quite often at Peggy Sue's. I know for a fact that if Josh had walked out and seen it you would have gone over there and they have guns and stuff here. So we are also very, very grateful that nothing like that happened to us and neither of us are hurt."

The couple talked about how tourists were at risk of such dangers and were shocked at the absence of warning signs.

On the vlog, Saffron Barker added that she was grateful to be alive and that she was with Josh. She stated:

“I’m very grateful to have had Josh with me throughout this whole thing because it made me realize how now matter what life throws at you, you have to find happiness within it.”

In the vlog, Barker had disclosed that she was hospitalized for an ear infection and had emergency dental surgery earlier in the same trip. She wanted to share the story despite everything that had happened.
