Sam Fox, born May 30, 1989, in Los Angeles, followed his father, Michael J. Fox's creative footsteps, working as a film producer. According to The News International, his recent credits included Good Grief and Dead Boy Detectives. Sam quietly married his longtime love, Molly Milstein, in New York last month. This marked a significant milestone for Michael J. Fox and Tracy Pollan, with Sam being their eldest son.

As reported by The News International, the pair confirmed the news on November 6 through Instagram, where Molly Milstein shared a carousel of photos captioned, “A month before.” The snapshots captured a warm, understated ceremony: Molly, dressed in a white blazer and mini-skirt set, and Sam, in a dark suit, stood smiling under a minimalist chuppah as they signed their marriage contract.

Though Michael J. Fox wasn’t pictured, Tracy Pollan and the couple’s daughters, Aquinnah, Schuyler, and Esmé, were seen celebrating in several photos. Earlier this year, Sam Fox had proposed to Molly during a snowy getaway, sharing a lighthearted selfie that showed her engagement ring and the caption, “LFG!!”

Sam Fox: Michael J. Fox’s son who watched his father step back from acting

By 2020, Michael J. Fox had made the difficult decision to step back from acting. Living with Parkinson’s since 1991, he told AARP Magazine that he “couldn't act comfortably at all anymore.”

In an earlier interview with The Guardian, Michael had reflected on the early days of his diagnosis. He had been married for three years, and his first child, Sam Fox, was a toddler. “At first, he couldn’t believe it,” the feature noted, “then he tried to figure out why.” Scientists had long suggested that Parkinson’s might be caused by a mix of genetics and environmental triggers such as pesticides and pollution.

Michael revealed something striking, that four cast members from Leo & Me, a Canadian series he had starred in as a teenager, had also developed early-onset Parkinson’s.

“But believe it or not, that’s not enough people to be defined as a cluster, so there hasn’t been much research into that, but it is interesting. I can think of a thousand possible scenarios: I used to go fishing in a river near paper mills and eat the salmon I caught; I’ve been to a lot of farms; I smoked a lot of pot in high school when the government was poisoning the crops. But you can drive yourself crazy trying to figure it out,” shared Micheal.

Asked whether he ever rewatched his old work, Michael J. Fox admitted, “I don’t. I might watch for a few minutes, then I change the channel. It’s just…” He stopped mid-thought, turning instead to talk about Muhammad Ali.

“I wondered what he thought when he saw old footage of himself, so I asked his wife, Lonnie, if it made him sad. She said, ‘Are you kidding? He loves it! He’d watch it all day if he could.’ For him, any feelings of loss or wistfulness were overtaken by the celebration that it existed: it’s a fact, it’s evidence and it’s preserved.”

Michael said his own children didn’t usually watch his films, but Sam Fox, being the exception, understood the importance.

“When my daughters were younger and read magazines about One Direction, I’d tell them, ‘Thirty years ago, that was me!’ They’d roll their eyes. But my son, Sam, he gets it. He knows all about filmmakers and films, so he really understands my career.”

When the interviewer suggested that maybe this was Sam Fox's way of getting to know the younger version of his father, Fox accepted thoughtfully.

“Yeah, maybe. I think he appreciates it. But I never wanted my kids to know me as anything other than their dad.”

Michael had nothing but love for his son, Sam Fox, on his birthday. The Back to the Future star marked the occasion on May 30 with a sweet Instagram post that People highlighted on May 31, 2025. “Happy Birthday Sam…No better friend, brother, or son on the planet. Love you so much,” he wrote, sharing a photo where he jokingly pretended to punch Sam Fox while standing beside him.

It was another glimpse into Fox’s tight-knit family life, the same family that stood by him earlier this year when he received the Presidential Medal of Freedom from President Joe Biden. Michael, who has been living with Parkinson’s disease for a long time, used the moment to thank the Parkinson’s community. “On behalf of the million or so people living with Parkinson's, and the millions more who love them, I am proud and honored to accept the Medal of Freedom from President Biden,” he wrote in January.

“No doubt I get the most attention in the PD community, but this is our fight and support and recognition on this level is a great boost.”

He ended his post on a hopeful note:

“I still believe with all my heart we will eliminate Parkinson's disease and all who have joined in the fight will have played a part in the victory. Thank you. With Hope and Gratitude, Michael J. Fox.”

It was the perfect reflection of Michael J. Fox's spirit, equal parts humor, humility, and hope.
