Who is Sasha Schreiber? Naomi Watts and Liev Schreiber reunite for son’s graduation

Naomi Watts and Liev Schreiber celebrated their son Sasha Schreiber’s graduation ceremony on June 5, 2025.

The former couple and their present partners also joined the event in New York City and enjoyed the 17-year-old achieving a significant milestone in his life.

Naomi and Liev welcomed their eldest child, Sasha, on July 25, 2007. Even after their separation, they share a close and affectionate relationship with their teen son.

Liev shared a glimpse of this memorable day on Instagram by posing in the same frame alongside his wife Taylor Niesen, Sasha, Naomi, and her husband Billy Crudup.

The Defiance actor dedicated it to his son, writing in the caption,

"The graduate!!!"

Naomi Watts and Liev Schreiber were together for over a decade. They began dating in 2005 and had two kids, too. They experienced parenthood together for the first time after Sasha Schreiber was born in July 2007. A year later, in December, the duo had their daughter, Kai Schreiber.

After their courtship of around 11 years, they announced their breakup in September 2016. They released a joint statement to ET, sharing,

"Over the past few months we've come to the conclusion that the best way forward for us as a family is to separate as a couple. It is with great love, respect, and friendship in our hearts that we look forward to raising our children together and exploring this new phase of our relationship."

They further requested,

"While we appreciate your curiosity and support, we ask the press to be mindful of our children and respect their right to privacy."

Watts and Schreiber continue to co-parent their kids and share mutual respect and support. They have often been seen together at school events, proms, award functions, and more such celebrations.

A look at his interests

Sasha Schreiber is actively passionate and involved in environmental activism. He participated in the 2019 global climate strikes, a youth-led movement inspired by Greta Thunberg, according to Elite Baddies.

Naomi shared snippets of her son joining the climate protest on Instagram and expressed her pride, stating,

"When the world is dead, where will we go? I’m proud of my boy for taking a stand with his classmates today, using their voices, and demanding a better future for themselves and their children."

She further penned,

"Change is coming whether we like it or not. A lot of little voices will be heard when they shout together!"

Later in March 2022, he also participated in a beach cleanup, showcasing his interest and commitment to protecting the environment.

He is a voice actor

According to a Behind The Voice Actors report, he ventured into voice acting. He voiced a young wolf in Disney's 2016 adaptation of the iconic The Jungle Book.

Sasha's birth was extremely meaningful and emotional for his mother. Naomi revealed facing fertility issues in an October 2022 interview with InStyle, as cited by People.

Reflecting on her challenging experience, she shared how her age, then 35,

"was a really late time to start thinking about getting pregnant."

The Mulholland Drive actress worked hard for conception. She spoke about having Chinese herbs and wheatgrass shots, aiming for better fertility. Additionally, she also

"started looking into other possible alternative routes."

Now, she is a proud mother of two children.
