Iconic guitarist Steve Cropper was married to wife, Angel Cropper. The founding member of Booker T. & the M.G.’s has died at 84. The Associated Press was the first to confirm Cropper’s death on December 3. President and CEO of Soulsville Foundation, Pat Mitchell Worley, noted that Cropper’s family told her about his death on December 3 in Nashville. The foundation oversees the Stax Museum of American Soul Music in Memphis.While a cause of death has not been revealed yet, Cropper’s longtime associate, Eddie Gore, revealed that he was with the artist on December 2 at a rehabilitation facility. The band later changed their name to the Mar-Keys and produced the hit “Last Night.”Cropper made an appearance in the film The Blues Brothers and its follow-up, Blues Brothers 2000, where he portrayed the character of Colonel. He continued recording throughout his life and, in 2024, produced Friendlytown, which was nominated for a Grammy. Earlier this year, Cropper received the Tennessee Governor’s Arts Award, the state’s highest honor in the arts.
