Country music star Thomas Rhett and his wife, Lauren Akins, are getting ready to add a new family member. They revealed that they are welcoming baby number five on Instagram through a post where he sang a song about welcoming baby number five.

Thomas Rhett and Lauren posted a humorous video of the artist playing his popular song "Life Changes" on Instagram and changed the lyrics halfway through to show their expanding family.

As Lauren sets up the camera and asks him if he is ready, Thomas Rhett sings:

“Well, I was wrapping my head around being a dad, a big wrench got thrown in the plans we thought we had. Now Lauren’s showing, got one on the way.”

Rhett smiles at her before he continues to sing:

"That’s five under 10, hey what can I say? Yeah life changes, You wake up, ain't nothin' the same and life changes."

As Lauren stood next to Thomas, she smiled at the camera as she showed her baby bump and the ultrasound photos of baby number 5. As they both collaborated on the post, they captioned it:

"Here we go again! We've got some really excited big sisters in our house. God is so good."

Thomas Rhett's love story with Lauren Akin and the joy of parenthood

It all started long ago, when Thomas Rhett met Lauren in elementary school in Georgia, and then by high school, they started dating. Lauren is an author, podcaster, and a big philanthropist. Since getting married in 2012, the couple has been expanding. With four daughters, Willa Gray, 9 years old, Thomas and Lauren adopted from Uganda in 2017, followed by Ada James, 8 years old, Lennon Love, 5 years old, and Lillie Carolina, just 3 years old.

The couple often shares on social media the joy of being parents, girl parents. In an interview with People magazine, Thomas Rhett said that being a "girl dad" was "beautiful chaos." He said:

“It's changed my life. It's chaos, but it's beautiful chaos. There are days where it's like, 'Good Lord, at what time are we going to bed?' But I think as they're getting older, it's been the biggest blessing in my life."

He added:

"My girls have taught me so much patience and how to love better," he said. "They have softened my heart in so many ways. I love my girls more than anything in the world."

Thomas Rhett also shared a wholesome story about working with Katy Perry on Audacy's Rob + Holly on the song Where We Started. He said:

"We literally talked about our kids the entire time… how we're raisin' 'em and what we're feeding 'em. I think that's what you do as a parent these days, you're just like, 'Oh, let me show you this one picture on my phone of my kid that you've never met!' "

Thomas Rhett added:

"I feel like when you're a parent and you talk to another parent it ends up being the majority of the conversation that you have because that's just what your life is consumed in. So to be able to talk dad-ing and mom-ing with someone like Katy was kind of hilarious, but awesome at the same time."

The couple has been transparent about their faith and passion for raising a big family.

As reported by Country Now, the couple has always wanted a big family. Thomas told Backstage Country:

“I think we go back and forth because I’ve heard a lot of people older than me say so many times like, ‘I wish I’d had more kids.’ Or you never hear somebody in their sixties be like, ‘I wish I’d had less kids.’ No one ever says that.”

He added:

“Although it would be hard now to add another one or two more or whatever, but I know that time will go by so fast and at some point there could be five or six children sitting at our Thanksgiving table. So, it’s not out of the question. I think we’re tryin’ to figure out when, and do we want to try biological, do we wanna adopt again? I think those are questions that we’re kinda dealing with.”

Fans and fellow singers have congratulated the couple on this big news. More things are about to come their way as their "Life Changes."
