Navyid Ely Raymond is the second son of singer Usher and his ex-wife, Tameka Foster. He recently went viral after posting a video on TikTok where he criticized Nicki Minaj's fans for allegedly attacking and undermining other Black artists, particularly Black women, and fostering unnecessary rivalry and animosity between them.
Navyid Ely Raymond was born on December 10, 2008. Just a year after his birth, Usher filed for divorce and was later granted full custody of his two children with Tameka Foster.
More about Usher's son, Navyid Ely Raymond, as his video calling out Nick Minaj's fans goes viral
In the viral video, originally uploaded on TikTok and later shared on X (formerly Twitter) by @RedMedia_us, Usher's sixteen-year-old son, Navyid Ely Raymond, can be seen going on a passionate rant. In the video, he calls out Nicki Minaj's fanbase, pointing out that many of them are Black men who love directing hate toward other Black women, thus fostering toxicity instead of unity. He said:
"Black people are the main people hating on other Black people, especially black men. Half of Nicki's fans are black men hating on another black woman."
He further mentioned that he was surprised that, despite the shared historical struggles faced by the Black community, some individuals still choose to tear each other down instead of supporting one another. He said:
"Like come on now, that's crazy. You go through all segregation and hate, and you are still hating? Like whoa..whoa. It's crazy. And Beyonce, do y'all not wanna see other Black people succeed!?"
Several people have agreed with Navyid's sentiments, with this user saying:
"I mean he didn’t lie. Most of those delusional fan pages are ran by grown men well into their 30s harassing young women."
"he didn't lie, its one of the reasons why i stopped claiming to be a barb. just a bunch of unfunny gay misogynistic men using nicki as a way to hate on other talented girls in the industry." said another.
This person tweeted:
"He ain't lying, not y'all dragging him for his opinion. Just proving his point🤷🏾♀️."
This user said:
"Spoke real 😭 I couldn’t understand why people were attacking him. But with the demographic doing so, I should’ve known."
"He didn't lie. The most hateful fan base I've ever seen." tweeted this user.
"he's literally right tho is he not." said another.
In a 2022 interview with Tamron Hall, Usher revealed how Navyid, unlike his older brother, is drawn to entertainment and loves critiquing his father's performances. He said:
"He's like, 'You missed this thing. you didn't do this thing.' And I'm like, 'Yeah that's the point. It's not supposed to be the same every night,'"
In another video posted on TikTok and later shared on Instagram by @theneighborhoodtalk, Navyid can be seen reacting to people calling him "young Diddy" and pointing out his alleged resemblance to the once-famous music producer, who is currently on trial for s*x trafficking and transportation charges among others. At one point, Diddy was Usher's legal guardian and played a significant role in shaping his career.
Just two weeks ago, Usher, whose full name is Usher Raymond IV, received an honorary degree from Emory University, where he also gave the keynote address.
