Walton Goggins, who made his SNL debut on Saturday, grew up in Lithia Springs, Georgia, with his parents, Walton Goggins Sr., and Janet Long. His parents divorced in 1974 when the Fallout actor was just three years old.
In an interview with GQ Magazine earlier this year, Walton Goggins recounted how his father was not very present during his childhood. He said:
"I had a lot of men in my life that stepped up and kind of filled that spot. I’ve been around a lot of very cool, very strange people in my life, and I really don’t know it any other way."
In the same interview, Goggins talked about the difficult circumstances he was raised. He said:
"My mother made $12,000 a year. We went camping in Panama City Beach, Florida, because we couldn’t even afford a f*ckin’ hotel.”
Goggins' mother, Janet Long, who once worked for the Employment Department, currently lives in a retirement community in Los Angeles, with the actor often posting pictures of them together. Walton Goggins' father, who according to Celeb Family, was born in August 1945, now mantains a good relationship with his son. He was once quite active on X (formerly Twitter), where he often posted about his son's achievements.
In his 2024 appearance on The Late Night Show with Seth Meyers, Walton Goggins talked about how his character of Baby Billy from "Righteous Gemstones, was, in part, inspired by his father. He said:

"And I brought him to New York actually, and he walks around and people are taking photos of him, as if he has been living here his whole life. and he carries these pictures of himself, that he signed you know in his pocket..like you instance of somebody is looking at him, he'll just go, " Hello, hello, my name is Walton Sanders Goggins, here is a picture of myself, I signed it you can have that, right there."
