In past court documents, Angelina Jolie stated that she sold her 50% stake in Château Miraval in 2021 because her ex-husband, Brad Pitt, refused to buy her share after their 2016 divorce filing.

In new court documents obtained by People, Angelina Jolie's attorneys in Los Angeles County Superior Court on October 6, noted that Jolie left "control (and full residency) of our family homes in Los Angeles and at Miraval, without compensation, which I hoped would make him calmer in his dealings with me after a difficult and traumatic period."

Jolie noted that she and her children have never "set foot" in the French vineyard following the couple's divorce,

"To this day, the children and I have never again set foot on the property, given it's connection to the painful events leading to the divorce. Post-separation, I immediately began to look for a new house for me and our children, initially renting a home while looking for a more stable solution."

She also added,

"At the time, my savings were tied up in Miraval, and I had not asked Brad for alimony or any other financial support."

Angelina Jolie asks for $33k from Brad Pitt in new court papers.

In newly filed court documents, Angelina Jolie is seeking $33,000 from Brad Pitt to cover her legal fees, months after Pitt requested that she hand over private messages exchanged between her and her team. In the filing, Jolie mentioned that she had warned Pitt numerous times that if the court denied Pitt's motion, she would ask the court to order him to pay her attorney's fees.

More about Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's feud over Chateau Miraval

In 2021, Angelina Jolie sold her 50$ stake in Chateau Miraval to Tenute del Mondo, a subsidiary of the Stoli Group. In February 2022, Brad Pitt filed a lawsuit claiming that Angelina Jolie sold her stake in Château Miraval despite their agreement that neither party would sell without the other's consent.

Jolie, in past court documents, had stated that she sold her stake since Pitt refused to buy her out of the winery businesses, since she did not want to sign a non-disclosure agreement, which was "designed to force her silence about his abuse and cover-up."

In January 2024, a source close to Pitt alleged that Jolie sold her stake to "punish" Pitt amid their divorce. The source also added that Jolie decided to sell her stake to a "total stranger not aligned with the company's vision so she could take the money for herself and punish him."
