Why did Anthony Ramos call Madonna’s behavior at 'Hamilton' "terrifying"? Reason explained

Broadway star Anthony Ramos, during his recent appearance on Watch What Happens Live! with host Andy Cohen, called Madonna's behavior at "Hamilton" terrifying, since he found her to be on her iPad, "the whole time".

When host Andy Cohen asked,

"Who was the most terrifying celebrity to spot in the audience during your Hamilton days?"

Anthony said,

"The most terrifying was Madonna with her iPad in her face. She was like this the whole time."

Anthony mimicked the artist, staring down at her iPad. and added,

"I was like: 'Damn shorty.' I'm like, 'If you not enjoying it that much, you know the door's right there. You ain't gotta stay here."

Anthony was one of the main cast members of the 2015 original Broadway cast of the Hamilton musical. He played two roles, including Jaun Laurens and Hamilton's son Philip.

Anthony was not the only one to notice Madonna using her device as an audience member in the Broadway show. According to the Daily Mail, Lin-Manuel Miranda, who played the role of Alexander Hamilton and wrote the book, music, and lyrics of the show, published a tweet slamming the singer back then, saying,

"Tonight was the first time I asked stage management NOT to allow a celebrity (who was texting all through Act 2) backstage. #noselfieforyou."

Although Miranda never revealed the celebrity by her name, and deleted the post from his X account, internet rumors revealed that it was, in fact, the pop artist.


Jonathan Groff calls out Madonna for texting during Broadway

Anthony Ramos and Lin-Manuel Miranda are not the only ones who have called out Madonna for her texting during a Broadway performance. Jonathan Groff, during a 2015 interview with Dot429, revealed that he was remotely disappointed in the artist and said that she couldn't come backstage "because that b--ch was on her phone".

"You couldn't miss it from the stage. It was a black void of the audience in front of us and her face there perfectly lit by the light of her iPhone through three-quarters of the show."

The singer was also blasted earlier in 2013 also been blasted for texting and using her phone during a screening of 12 Years a Slave. She was later banned from Alamo Drafthouse theaters for her alleged behavior. The Broadway asks all theatregoers to turn off or their keep their phones on silent (no vibration) while attending Broadway shows. In some instances, the coordinators have also been known to take away phones from theatregoers.
