DaBaby's ex-girlfriend DaniLeigh's brother, Brandon Bills, filed a $4 million lawsuit against him, which the rapper is trying to have dismissed. DaBaby was seen on camera assaulting Bills during a fight at a bowling alley in 2022, which is the basis for the case. Bills reportedly failed to serve the rapper with legal documents and it was argued that the case has passed the three-year statute of limitations.
DaBaby's legal team contends that the lawsuit ought to be dismissed. Although the rapper had formally asked for dismissal, the court has not rendered a decision yet.
The complaint stems from an event at a bowling alley in California in February 2022. DaBaby is seen punching Bills first in the incident on camera. The rapper's group approached Bills after he passed out, and they kept attacking, causing wounds and bruises that were clearly evident.
After looking into the altercation, police did not book the rapper for assault with a lethal weapon. The matter never proceeded, and Bills refused to cooperate and provide testimony to the police.
Bills eventually launched a civil complaint demanding more than $4 million in damages, although not pursuing criminal charges. He alleged that the assault left him with severe bodily wounds, emotional anguish, and financial strain from the cost of his medical care.
Serving the rapper with the complaint, however, has proven to be a significant problem. In an attempt to find the rapper, Bills first engaged a private detective but was unsuccessful. A judge permitted Bills to serve the rapper with a newspaper ad in April 2024, but according to the rapper's legal team, he never did.
The complaint has been deemed "baseless" by DaBaby's lawyers, who are asking for a dismissal with prejudice, which would prevent Bills from refiling the case. They contend that Bills lied about having tried several times to serve the rapper correctly. They claim that it is a waste of judicial resources to pursue the case further.
Tensions between DaBaby and DaniLeigh's family

The infamous incident at the bowling alley was the result of mounting hostilities between DaBaby and DaniLeigh's siblings. After DaniLeigh was accused of hitting the rapper after a furious fight, the former couple's turbulent and very public separation in 2021 took a negative turn.
After their breakup, Brandon Bills openly vented his rage at the rapper and vowed to confront him about how he treated DaniLeigh. Tensions between them increased as a result of his threats and remarks made in public. Their long-standing hostility broke out into physical violence in 2022 when the two eventually met at the bowling alley.
In addition to pursuing legal action against DaBaby, Brandon Bills has also brought a lawsuit against Corbin Bowl, the bowling alley in LA where the fight occurred. Nonetheless, the location has categorically denied any misconduct and dismissed allegations that it ought to bear responsibility for the events that took place on its grounds.
The rapper has had other legal issues in the past few years in addition to this litigation. He was a part of another assault case in 2024, this time involving Gary Pagar. This case had criminal ramifications for the rapper, unlike the bowling alley incident, and he ultimately agreed to a plea deal to avoid going to jail. He was instead handed a one-year probationary period as part of the agreement.
The outcome of Bills' case is still up in the air. The case will be permanently dismissed if the court agrees to DaBaby's request.
