Aaron Richards was ordered to stay 100 yards away from the family home after Denise Richards filed for a temporary restraining order request citing domestic abuse, in July 2025.
On September 8, Denise Richards made her first appearance in court amid a legal battle with ex Aaron Phypers. While Richards' restraining order request was postponed to next month as per court documents obtained by People, a judge gave Dennis access to one of the couple's residences.
On September 13, Denise is to "retrieve her mother's and her own personal property, including the dogs," while Phypers is ordered to stay 100 yards away from the home.
As per the temporary restraining order request, which was granted in July, Phypers is to "take no action which would interfere with Ms. Richards' access" and return Richards' laptop and old cell phone by the end of the day on September 9.
Aaron Phypers had filed for divorce against his wife of 6 years, Denise, on July 7, citing "irreconcilable differences." Phypers sought spousal support. Whereas Denise filed for a temporary restraining order and accused Aaron of domestic abuse, which includes choking, physical attacks, death threats, and hacking into her devices.
Denise Richards' temporary restraining order request against Aaron Phypers explored
In July 2025, court documents obtained by People, Denise Richards requested for temporary domestic violence restraining order against Phypers. In the restraining order request, Richards had claimed that her estranged husband, Aaron, would "violently choke", squeeze her head with both arms, slap her, slam her head into the bathroom towel rack, and threaten to kill her.
Richards also alleged that Phypers hacked into her laptop and phone and downloaded all of her text messages. Richards also alleged that her ex "has caused me at least 3 concussions."
In a previous statement to People, Phypers denied all the allegations of domestic abuse as "completely false and deeply hurtful." Phypers also accused Richards of cheating on him with another man at the beginning of 2025, hitting him, scratching him, and snatching his phone. In response, Richards' divorce attorney Brett Berman denied Phypers' allegations about the actress having an affair and called them "false."
In a letter to family and friends, which was obtained by Page Six, Phypers alleged that Richards was addicted to Vicodin. As per the National Institute of Health, Vicodin is a semi-synthetic opioid medication.
Denise Richards' recent court appearance comes after Richards asked the court for Phypers to pay for her spousal support. She also requested that Phypers be given responsibility to pay her attorney's fees. After which, Phypers, while speaking to People, claimed that the actress is trying to "humiliate" him.
