Priceville police officer Garry Chapman, son of reality TV star Duane "Dog the Bounty Hunter" Chapman, has been placed on administrative leave following a fatal car crash. TMZ reports that the case remains under investigation.

On Saturday, September 6, 2025, the Priceville Police Department initiated a vehicle pursuit after they attempted to stop a suspect for driving violations and possible driving under the influence. The chase crossed into Hartselle, Alabama, around 8:30 p.m.

According to Hartselle Police, the fleeing suspect's vehicle struck another car in an intersection. It eventually caused a violent crash, which left six people hospitalized and 17-year-old Tristan Hollis dead.

According to reports, family members later confirmed that Hollis was among those in the vehicle struck by the suspect. Details about the condition of the other victims have not been made public yet. However, authorities said that one of the injured, who is identified as Archie Hale, is also considered a possible suspect.

Reports suggest Hale's vehicle hit another car before driving into a ditch. This triggered the chain of events that led to the fatal car crash. It is worth noting that police have not yet disclosed whether drugs or alcohol played a role.

According to TMZ, Priceville Mayor Sam Heflin confirmed that Officer Garry Chapman, Dog the Bounty Hunter's son, has been placed on administrative leave with pay. It follows protocol for cases involving deadly incidents. Heflin stated that this is standard procedure for officers involved in major incidents that are currently pending a review.

Mayor Heflin initially did not confirm Chapman's family details. However, reports suggest that through social media and public records, it was verified that the officer is the son of Duane Chapman, who is better known as Dog the Bounty Hunter.

Notably, Garry appeared on the Priceville Police Department's official channels in April. He is among Dog the Bounty Hunter's 13 children.

Dog the Bounty Hunter's 13-year-old step-grandson recently died in an accidental shooting

In July 2025, Dog's step-grandson, Anthony, died in an accidental shooting at the hands of his father, Gregory Zecca. He is Dog's stepson through his wife, Francie Frane. The family publicly described the shooting as a "tragic accident." In 2019, Dog's wife, Beth, died after a cancer battle. He stated:

"I had lost my bounty hunting enthusiasm after Beth, and then I looked at Francine and she said 'I will love you forever,' and I said I will love you too. I knew in my heart there was someone that was going to pray for me and say, 'Be good, Dog.' And all of a sudden, I felt like Dog again."

Duane originally rose to fame in the early 2000s after he captured fugitive Andrew Luster. It eventually led to the A&E reality series Dog the Bounty Hunter, which aired from 2004 to 2012.

Dog the Bounty Hunter has not publicly commented yet on the case involving his son.
