Amy Schumer has shed some light on her healthcare journey. The actress took to Instagram on Monday, December 1, to share a reel where she addressed the whispers surrounding her physical transformation. In her reel, Schumer, 44, lounged in her bed as she interacted with her son, Gene, 6. The two gave a tour of their home, though the actress added text over it acknowledging her weight loss. She began by disclosing that she doesn't get Botox or filler, and clarified that despite rumors that she lost 30 lbs, she lost 50. "Not to look hot which does feel fun and temporary," she wrote. "I did it to survive. I had a disease that makes your face extremely puffy that can kill you, but the internet caught it, and the disease has cleared," she said, referring to her Cushing syndrome diagnosis. Mayo Clinic states that Cushing syndrome is a condition where the afflicted individual has too much cortisol, which is the primary stress hormone. Symptoms include weight gain on the face, arms, and legs, as well as high blood pressure and stretch marks on the body. Schumer has also been vocal about her endometriosis diagnosis. "Sorry to anyone that lets down." However, she is now "pain free" and "can [play] tag" with Gene. She also acknowledged her perimenopause, which she disclosed about in February last year. "Happy to share if anyone has any questions about how I'm looking or feeling or where I am in my perimenopause process." She concluded, "Whatever ends up happening with Chris has nothing to do with weight loss or autism. Fingers crossed we can make it through, he's the best." Just last month, the Trainwreck actress took to Instagram once again to show off her new physique as she acknowledged the rumors surrounding her transformation once again. “Hey media outlets I didn’t delete my old photos because they were pre me losing weight,” she wrote. “That’s a narrative you created. I’m proud of how I’ve looked always. I have been working to be pain free and I finally am. My endometriosis is better,” she added. “My back is healing. I no longer have Cushing syndrome so my face went back to normal. I am grateful to be strong and healthy especially for my son. But your Instagram is not your identity it’s a curation of what you want the world to see and I feel great strong and beautiful and it’s been fun sharing that.” She also said that she didn't “purposely” go on a weight loss journey but is happy about the benefits to her health: “But my focus has been on health. I’m sure my weight will always fluctuate,” she said. “I’m a perimenopausal woman on hrt meds. Wishing you strength and self love on whatever path you’re on as long as it’s kind and respectful to all people. No matter their weight race or religion peace!” Stay tuned to SoapCentral for more.
