English broadcaster Gregg Wallace, well-known for hosting MasterChef, filed a lawsuit against the BBC last month in London. This comes after he was fired from the show on account of misconduct allegations.

According to The Daily Mail, he sought the release of certain documents that he believes could help to vindicate him. Through the lawsuit, he also seeks damages up to £10,000 and claims that the BBC caused him harm by not sharing the documents.

According to an exclusive report by The Sun, the broadcasting company said that Wallace had no right to get any damages. Moreover, he allegedly chose to go ahead with his lawsuit without giving any notice to them. In a statement, the company said:

“That voluntary disclosure demonstrates the claimant has no basis to claim damages for distress in respect of the withholding of such information.”

Lawyers requested to access Wallace’s data in March 2025, but it was finally handed over to them on October 7, 2025. Besides that, Gregg Wallace now wishes to file a disability claim on the grounds of his undiagnosed autism. As per The Daily Mail, he said:

“My neurodiversity, now formally diagnosed as autism, was suspected and discussed by colleagues across countless seasons of MasterChef. Yet nothing was done to investigate my disability or protect me from what I now realise was a dangerous environment for over 20 years. That failure is now being quietly buried.”

Gregg Wallace was removed from the show after a majority of complaints were taken into consideration, claiming that he had made inappropriate remarks and had conducted similar behavior in the past.

Gregg Wallace’s previous statement explored

According to The Mirror, after the investigation into his alleged misconduct was completed, Gregg Wallace shared a statement, confessing that he was sorry if he had upset anyone and explained that he never meant to hurt or embarrass anyone.

Wallace shared that for eight months, he and his family had a hard time because of rumors and stories spreading about him online. The statement continued:

“None of the serious allegations against me were upheld. I challenged the remaining issue of unwanted touching, but have had to accept a difference in perception, and I am deeply sorry for any distress caused. It was never intended.”

Gregg Wallace explained that the BBC and MasterChef had chosen him for being a fun and real person with a lively personality. He said that for many years, people liked that about him, but now, in a more careful world, his personality was suddenly seen as an issue. Wallace also shared that he had been diagnosed with autism, something his coworkers had suspected for years, but no one ever looked into it or helped him.

Gregg Wallace felt that the way he was treated for over twenty years was unsafe and that people were now trying to cover it up. At the time, the BBC said that his behavior could have been addressed. They also acknowledged that they could have been proactive.
