Jodie Turner-Smith and Joshua Jackson are officially divorced after almost two years of legal battle, ending their nearly 4-year marriage. The former couple reconciled on child support and custody, but are still fighting over major decisions about their daughter, including her education.

In September 2023, Turner-Smith filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for their separation.

In interviews done after filing for divorce, Jodie Turner-Smith has opened up about the couple's decision to end things. She told The Times that the split was the result of a realization and worry about her own self-care and setting a positive example for her daughter.

"Motherhood makes me more powerful. The bravest thing in the world is to recognize when something’s not working and to make a move, and I always want to set that kind of example for my daughter." She said.

According to herself, Turner-Smith supposedly didn't feel like she was being true to herself when it came to her relationship with Joshua Jackson. Remembering her journey through motherhood and independence, Turner-Smith shared how being financially stable and having a strong sense of self gave her the power to keep going.

"Money talks and allows independence... And independence lets you move in a way where you don’t have to be so afraid." the model remarked.

More about Jodie Turner-Smith and Joshua Jackson's early relationship and their legal dispute involving their daughter

Joshua Jackson and Jodie Turner-Smith first met at Usher’s 40th birthday party in October 2018. Turner-Smith later disclosed that their fling was the result of a one-night stand that turned into a committed relationship (People).

Jodie Turner-Smith said she was first drawn to Joshua Jackson from the start, even though she played hard to get. In November 2018, the two were spotted around Los Angeles holding hands.

"I saw him before he saw me and when I saw him, I was like, 'I want that,' And then when he saw me, I just pretended like I didn't see him." She said in an interview on Late Night with Seth Meyers.

Their relationship progressed rapidly, and they sparked engagement rumors in August 2019 when they were seen picking up a marriage license. They both confirmed that they had tied the knot in December 2019. The couple made public appearances together throughout 2019 and into early 2020.

The couple shares a daughter, Juno Rose Diana Jackson, born in April 2020, and have been fighting a complicated co-parenting arrangement since the breakup.

Legal papers filed recently show that Jackson will make a payment of $2,787 a month in child support, but is not required to pay spousal support. The two have reached a temporary 50/50 custody deal, though some disagreements remain.

According to the Daily Mail, one major cause of tension is where their daughter will go to elementary school. Turner-Smith also asked the courts to step in and force her estranged husband to agree with a previous decision she made to enroll their child in a new school that is also conveniently situated near Jackson.

Though the couple has talked about the news and looked into the facility, Joshua Jackson has declined to back the transition, Jodie Turner-Smith said.
