A new meme is in town, with kids shouting the words 6 7 as of an ongoing viral trend. According to CNN, the viral meme involving kids shouting the words 6 7 is inspired by rapper Skrilla's now-viral song titled "Doot Doot (6 7)." The exact reason behind the meme is not known, but children are doing so whenever something involves the numbers six and seven.

The meme first originated around December 2024, when videos of school kids shouting the words six and seven started making rounds on the internet. In the next ten-month period, the meme became a viral sensation, with millions of videos posted on TikTok. According to CNN, one of the earliest videos linked to this meme can be attributed to the young basketball talent Taylen Kinney, who is committed to play for the University of Kansas next year.

The young prospect, in his video posted in December, can be seen visiting a Starbucks to review a drink. When asked by the person behind the camera how he would rate his drink, he can be seen saying six or seven, along with a gesture indicating a score somewhere in between the two numbers. Since then, he has used Skrilla's viral song to make more videos that he often posts on TikTok. After his viral video, Kinney even launched his own canned water brand called 6 7 Water, back in June.

Even before the phenomenon of kids shouting 6 7, became widespread, the meme had already gained significant traction after the lyrics "6-7, I just bipped right on the highway" from Skrilla's song were used in video edits for basketball player LaMelo Ball, who happens to be six feet and seven inches tall.

According to SB Nation, even in the original context of the song, rapper Skrilla, whose real name is Jemille Edwards, is thought to be referring either to the dangerous activities on the 67th street in Chicago or his hometown in Philadelphia, though it is unclear which is correct. In an October interview with The Wall Street Journal, Skrilla explained that he himself did not put much thought into the phrase when writing the lyrics, and said:

"I never put an actual meaning on it, and I still would not want to. [This is ] why everybody keeps saying it"

The phenomenon of kids shouting 6 7 at random intervals in classrooms has now perplexed and annoyed teachers all across the country. According to The Independent, the trend generally involves one child shouting the words six, followed by other kids shouting seven in unison. Teachers have since introduced various rules and consequenses for students who disrupt their class by shouting 6 7 at random intervals.

The 6 7 meme was even refferenced in the recent episode of "South Parks" that premiered earlier this week on October, 15. In the episode, titled, "Twisted Christian" Eric Cartman and other children from his class can be seen shouting six seven the very moment anti-Christ expert Peter Thiel says the words, "in the next six to seven weeks," while talking about the end of the world.
