How has Shane Bieber reacted to being asked about Justin Bieber
30-year-old American baseball player Shane Bieber, while speaking to MLB.com in 2018, revealed that once when he took to the mound to warm up for a game, his teammates pranked him by playing Justin Bieber's popular track Baby on the stadium sound system.
"I mean, I've been hearing it since college."
Later that season during the MLB Players Weekend, players were given the chance to wear nicknames on the back of their jerseys, and Shane chose his nickname to be "Not Justin."
"A lot of people like to make the joke and try to mistake me for him. So, I thought I'd make it obvious and put it on the back of my jersey to let everyone know I'm not Justin Bieber."
In 2019, TMZ captured images of Justin Bieber riding a motorcycle in Beverly Hills while wearing a Cleveland Jersey with "Not Shane Bieber" and No. 57 on the back. He also posted an image of himself wearing it on social media and tagged Shane.
Iconic Sportscaster Bob Costas once misidentified Shane as Justin during a Cleveland Guardians Division Series game against the New York Yankees in 2022,
"Justin Bieber just threw his 84th pitch. Did I actually call Shane Bieber, Justin Bieber? I vowed that would happen."
He then went on to add,
"I'm sure it's not the first time it's happened in his life"
After the incident, field reporter Lauren Shehadi challenged her fellow broadcasters on a bet and said,
"If you guys can name one Justin Bieber song, I'll give you $10."
Shane is a professional baseball pitcher for the Toronto Blue Jays of Major League Baseball. He previously played in MLB for the Cleveland Indians/Guardians.
Bieber was initially recruited to play college baseball at the University of California and made his professional debut with the Mahoning Valley Scrappers. He then moved to the Lake County Captains, Lynchburg Hillcats, and Akron RubberDucks before playing for the Blue Jays.
