Tommy Lee and Heather Locklear married in 1986 and, despite doubts from onlookers, the two quickly became one of Hollywood’s most recognizable couples. They were often seen smiling together on red carpets and speaking fondly of each other in interviews.

For a while, it looked as if their marriage would beat the odds. In 1993, however, the pair announced they were divorcing, a move that caught even close followers of their relationship off guard.

For years, the reason behind the split remained unspoken.As per Mirror, eventually, Tommy Lee broke his silence in an interview, candidly admitting,

“F**king with p*rno stars ruined my marriage.”

The confession suggested that the temptations of his career had proved too strong, ending his marriage to Locklear and marking his second divorce in under 10 years. Locklear, by contrast, kept her comments guarded. Per Radar Online, in The Price of Fame: Heather Locklear, radio host Kellie Raspberry revealed,

“She [Locklear] has said that was a terribly painful time for her.”

Long before the end, the actress had told People she intended to stay married for life.

“I’ve only thought of getting married once, I plan for this one to last,” she had shared.

Heather Locklear seemed to be in a lighthearted mood while reacting to her ex-husband Tommy Lee’s latest social media post.

On Saturday, August 10, the Uptown Girls star tapped the “like” button on an Instagram video the Mötley Crüe drummer had shared. In the clip, Lee playfully swatted his wife Brittany Furlan’s backside.

"Bad pool boy!!!! There were too many leaves in the pool this morning you are fired!!!" he wrote as caption.

Locklear and Lee’s history stretches back decades. They wed in May 1986 after a whirlwind romance, just three months after meeting at an REO Speedwagon concert, as Lee told Rolling Stone in 1987. The drummer recalled getting her phone number through a chain of acquaintances involving his accountant’s brother, a dentist, who happened to know Locklear’s dentist. The couple’s wedding drew around 500 guests, but the marriage ended in 1993 following Lee’s infidelity.

After the split, Tommy Lee was married to Pamela Anderson from 1995 to 1998, was engaged to Sofia Toufa between 2014 and 2017, and met Furlan in 2017. He married the former Vine star in 2019. Speaking to People in 2023, Furlan said she enjoyed a warm friendship with Locklear.

“Heather and I are very close. She’s awesome, I love her, I think she’s the most kind, down-to-earth person. We met through Tommy, obviously, and became close… just supportive and just a cool chick all around,” she shared.

Furlan added that their bond was something she valued deeply.

“She tells me funny stories. Everyone glorifies his relationship with Pam [Anderson], but he was married to Heather for [nearly] eight years!”

Tommy Lee and Anderson share two sons, Brandon Thomas and Dylan Jagger.

Speaking about Heather Locklear, Furlan acknowledged that her husband once considered her “the love of his life.” She explained,

“Tommy even says he messed up in that relationship. He cheated on her. To this day, that’s why they’re still really good friends.”

She admitted that she sometimes scolds him about it.

“I yell at my husband, I’m like, ‘I can’t believe you cheated on her. She’s so cool.’ That was a different time… You live and you learn,” she explained.
