Tony Buzbee, the prominent attorney for high-profile clients, appears to have found trouble of his own. As he works on high-profile cases against two of hip-hop’s biggest names, Jay-Z and Sean “Diddy” Combs, a former Buzbee client has sued him for malpractice, fraud, and assault.
The former Buzbee client, a woman, referred to as Jane Doe to protect her identity has sued him. Regarding an undisclosed sexually transmitted disease case. Stating that he had acted unethically during her divorce proceedings according to USA Today.
The client accused Tony Buzbee of malpractice, asserting that Buzbee did not effectively defend her interests, resulting in financial and emotional harm. Her other accusation was related to fraud, saying he forced her into choices that would benefit him financially.
Reports from USA Today state that the lawsuit also includes allegations of unwanted physical contact, which Buzbee has vigorously denied.
The lawsuit, filed in the New York Supreme Court on December 19 by Jane Doe, claims that the two connected online in 2018. After dinner and a show in Houston, Buzbee allegedly rented a hotel room where they had sexual intercourse.
Doe alleges that Buzbee did not disclose the STI to her and that she tested positive for it after developing symptoms. When she confronted him, Buzbee reportedly apologized and asked her not to tell anyone, according to the lawsuit (People Magazine).
People Magazine also stated that on another New York trip, the woman and Buzbee were in a bar where Buzbee shoved a champagne flute against her face. Doe says she has medical and dental records, as proof of the incident.
The legal showdown between Tony Buzbee and Jay-Z’s attorney
Tony Buzbee has recently made headlines for representing a client, who accused Jay-Z and Sean Combs of sexual assault dating back to 2000.
Represented by attorney Alex Spiro, Jay-Z has countered by accusing Buzbee of being behind an extortion scheme. Spiro noted that Buzbee sent a demand letter to Jay-Z, making threats of public allegations.
As a comeback, Tony Buzbee said the allegations against him were a desperate attempt to undermine his credibility. He told People Magazine,
"We won’t just sit back and allow this criminality to continue. We have reported this conduct to the relevant legal authorities,"
He continued by saying,
"And, we will be suing those behind this to put an end to this egregious behavior once and for all."
