Actor Tim Daly’s sister, Tyne Daly, shared candid details about not being a part of her brother’s wedding to actress Téa Leoni. On August 17, People Magazine published an exclusive piece, writing that the outlet caught up with Tyne at the recent Televerse festival. She mentioned that the wedding had exclusive guests, and she wasn’t one of them.
The wedding took place on July 12 at the couple’s apartment in New York. Tyne Daly said:
“There was a small wedding. Very exclusive, very, very private.”
She added:
“They only had people that they gave birth to or people who gave birth to them. However, I'm going to see the newlyweds quite soon.”
Sharing her plans for her sister-in-law, Daly said she was preparing a Christmas present for her. Without spilling more beans about the gift, she said:
“It's a secret. I can't tell you what the present is. Nobody likes surprises anymore.”
Tim Daly and Téa Leoni worked together in CBS's Madam Secretary, which ran till 2019. Speaking about his work with Leoni during an interview with Collider in 2014, Tim said that Leoni liked to work hard but also have fun, and the two of them enjoyed spending time together.
He explained that sometimes he got along with people but didn’t feel any connection, and other times he didn’t like someone but still had great chemistry with them. With Téa, both the friendship and chemistry were good, which made things better.
Tim Daly also said she was the kind of person who could be just as happy sleeping in tough conditions, like on a stone floor in a wet sleeping bag, as she would be in a fancy hotel. He admired that she never complained.
Tyne Daly and Tim Daly share their thoughts about working together in a play
Tim Daly and Tyne Daly acted in a play, Downstairs, written by Theresa Rebeck. During an interview with Playbill in June 2017, Tyne revealed that she found the script amusing. Interestingly, the real-life sibling duo also portrays the same in the play.
Reflecting on the characters, Tyne said:
“The fact that they don’t line up at all is perfect. It’s true because everybody has different parents. Even if they have the same biological parents, they have different parents.”
Tim Daly, who played Teddy in the play, said:
“Teddy goes all the way down to literally the gutter, and Theresa likes me in the gutter. I think Theresa sees, somehow, into some of the damage we all have and she likes to exploit it.”
Speaking about his sister’s skills, Tim Daly said that Tyne was skilled at keeping an audience interested, whether by making them excited, uneasy, or surprised. He explained that Tyne Daly had a special technique he always wanted to learn from. He also said her work was powerful and full of energy, making it impossible to look away when she performed.
Similarly, Tyne Daly said she admired her brother Tim for the way he made choices and showed depth in his work. She liked seeing him take the lead and explained that being a “leading man” was not about being a star or a brand but about the way he carried himself.
