Why will Cynthia Erivo miss the Golden Globes this year? Reason explained

Cynthia Erivo will not attend the 83rd Golden Globe Awards. She is nominated in the Best Actress - Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy category for Wicked: For Good. It is the second year that she has been mentioned in the same category.

She, however, will not be present at the ceremony on Sunday, January 11, 2026. She has been said to be out of the country on professional assignments.

The Golden Globe Awards shall be conducted at the Beverly Hilton, Los Angeles. The event airs on CBS and is available on Paramount+.

Cynthia Erivo is committed to her West End Production

Cynthia Erivo is the star of the Dracula Western End. The show's programming is scheduled to take place between February 4 and May 31. She is not going to leave the UK to walk at the Golden Globes due to the requirements for rehearsals and preparation.

The work is based on Bram Stoker's novel and is a stage performance featuring a woman. The production has 23 characters performed by Cynthia Erivo. This is the role of Count Dracula. There will also be a lot of planning and focus within the project.

Erivo has gone on record about how hard it was to take on the role. She told an interviewer that it is both scary and exciting. It is a hectic period, and traveling abroad is not easy because of the time and the workload. Because of this, it is simply impossible to attend the Golden Globes. While speaking to Wonderland Magazine, Erivo said,

“I’m f------ petrified. I really am. I’m very scared, But I’m also like — I don’t know, is this sadistic of me — but I’m really excited about it as well. It’s absolutely nonsensical and insane.”

Her Golden Globe nomination and career momentum

The nomination follows her performance in Wicked: For Good. The movie has received several nominations this year. It was nominated for 5 Golden Globe Awards in the acting, music, and box office achievement categories.
