Why haven't Zooey Deschanel and Jonathan Scott made any wedding plans? Here's what we know as couple celebrates 2 years of engagement

Zooey Deschanel and Jonathan Scott have no plans of getting married anytime soon.

The New Girl actress began dating the Property Brothers star back in 2019, and by August 2023, the latter popped the big question. They were in Scotland on vacation at the time, and she said yes.

In a recent interview with People Magazine published on August 7, however, Scott said that they haven't even looked into planning their nuptials, 2 years after they got engaged:

“We've just been having so much fun traveling with the kids and filming this show and stuff,” Jonathan Scott said. “So no, we have not actually made any plans yet."

Jonathan Scott celebrated his and Zooey Deschanel's 2-year engagement with a post on Instagram, where he shared a throwback snapshot from their time in Scotland. The selfie also showed off the actress' engagement ring, which sported stones of various colors in a floral pattern.

The actress had told People Magazine in a past interview that she "didn't want just a diamond ring." She said,

"It's fun to have something different. I mean, I love diamonds, don't get me wrong. I'm not going to turn down a diamond. But I like the fun colors and I like pink and purple," she said at the time.

In another photo shared by Scott, the couple can be seen sharing a warm embrace.

"Oh how time flies when you're in love. Aug 13th, 2023…I put a [ring emoji] on that finger. Guess we should figure out this [wedding emojis] love you @zooeydeschanel," Scott captioned the photos.

Zooey Deschanel has two kids, daughter Elsie, 10, and son Charlie, 8, whom she shares with her former husband, Jacob Pechenik. As for Scott, he was previously married to Kelsy Ully from 2007 to 2013.

“Whatever we do, it has to be meaningful to us, and we want to gather our friends and family and have a good time,” he told People Magazine of his impending wedding. "We want to keep it very, very intimate.”

Per People Magazine, the pair now live in their 1938 "dream home," which took two years to renovate until 2022. In December 2023, Jonathan Scott spoke to E! News about the pressures of living life a certain way:

"The good thing is when you find somebody, at this stage in our lives, we don't have the energy or time for the BS anymore," he said. "And so, we're not taking any pressure from anybody. Nobody's gonna tell us what our guest list is gonna look like. We're just gonna do things the way we want to do things because it's about each other."

He told Us Weekly in June 2024 that their nuptials would be prefaced with a huge party:

"The ceremony and the pomp and circumstance, we’ll get that out of the way, and then it’s the reception. It’s going to be a blast.”

However, Jonathan Scott noted that even after they exchange their vows, not much is going to change about their dynamics:

“I already play that role,” Jonathan told Us. “I mean, we’ve both been married before, but even when we were younger, you’re looking for different things, and who knows what we were looking for at that time?”
