Spider-Man 4 is a film that fans of the Sam Raimi trilogy have been reportedly waiting for several years. The trilogy stars Tobey Maguire as the iconic web-slinger and Kirsten Dunst as Mary Jane Watson. The first film was released in 2002, followed by sequels in 2004 and 2007.

Recently, the Fargo actress shared her thoughts about a potential fourth installment. Dunst said that she is willing to reprise the role of Mary Jane if given a chance. Let us find out what exactly she said.

Kirsten Dunst talks about returning in Spider-Man 4

Kirsten Dunst recently spoke to The Supes Show, where she was asked about Spider-Man 4 and how fans have been demanding it for a while. The actress said that she is open to a fourth installment and stated that she wants to see her and Tobey Maguire's characters as parents in it.

"That would be cool, right? I mean, I don't know if the fans are into it. I feel like that is an interesting movie, right? Me and Tobey doing that again...with kids."

Sam Raimi was reportedly working on the fourth entry, but the underwhelming response of Spider-Man 3 and certain creative issues led to the film being scrapped. The franchise was rebooted with Mark Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man, where Andrew Garfield played the superhero.

After Marvel and Sony made a deal to share the rights, Tom Holland portrayed the character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Holland is currently filming for Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

Dunst’s remarks may offer hope to fans eager to see Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man storyline continue with a potential Spider-Man 4. Interestingly, Tobey Maguire reprised his role alongside Andrew Garfield in No Way Home. Raimi’s original 2002 film was written by David Koepp and produced by Laura Ziskin and Ian Bryce.

The film served as the origin story of Peter Parker transforming into a superhero after being bitten by a radioactive spider. It was a critical and commercial success, grossing $825.8 million. The film was followed by a sequel where Maguire and Dunst reprised their roles, and it proved to be an equally successful venture. Spider-Man 3 was the final entry in Raimi's trilogy. It featured characters like Venom and Sandman. Unlike the earlier installments, it met with mixed critical reception and ended the franchise.
