Is Matthew Lillard going to feature in Scream 7?

Scream 7 is going to be released on February 27, 2026, by Paramount Pictures. Recently, Matthew Lillard spoke to US Magazine about his appearance in the film. He had played the role of Stu Macher in the first installment. He said,

I was giddy. I was freaking out. I had been sort of tongue-in-cheek pushing the fact that Stu’s still alive, he went to prison. Like, I’ll go get superhero jacked like [I’ve] been in prison for the last 20 years. And, you know, the Radio Silence [Productions] guys left a lot of breadcrumbs in the movies that Stu was still out there.

Lillard revealed that he spoke to the film's director, Kevin Williamson, who was the writer of the 1996 film Scream.

"When I got [Kevin] on the phone that day, I was like, ‘You’re such a jerk. You said I was never coming back. He was like, ‘Yeah, because you kept arguing to come back, and I was trying to distract everyone."

The upcoming film will also feature Neve Campbell and Courteney Cox reprising as Sidney Prescott and Gale Weathers, respectively. David Arquette is also returning as the cop, Dewey Riley. Other cast members include,

  • Mason Gooding as Chad Meeks-Martin
  • Jasmin Savoy Brown as Mindy Meeks-Martin
  • Roger L. Jackson as Ghostface's voice
  • Isabel May as Sidney's daughter
  • Joel McHale as Mark Evans
  • Scott Foley
  • Anna Camp
  • Mark Consuelos
  • Ethan Embry
  • Asa Germann
  • Mckenna Grace
  • Celeste O'Connor
  • Sam Rechner

  • Jimmy Tatro

The production banners of Scream 7 include Spyglass Media Group, Project X Entertainment, and Outerbanks Entertainment.
