Predator: Badlands dropped theatrically on November 7, 2025, via 20th Century Studios, and its box-office numbers are nothing but impressive. The sci-fi action film is the ninth entry in the franchise and is unique in a way because of the way it presents the Predator as a protagonist.

Here's the official synopsis of this Dan Trachtenberg-directed title as per IMDb:

"A young Predator outcast from his clan finds an unlikely ally on his journey in search of the ultimate adversary."

The film has received the second-best opening in the entire franchise. Let's take a look at the numbers.

Predator: Badlands box office update revealed

Predator: Badlands minted $14 million on its opening day of November 7. This makes it the second-best opening in the franchise. The film is now trailing to gross around $33 million. In the United States, it's currently playing in around 3,725 cinema halls. Of the $14 million figure, $4.8 million came from the preview screenings that took place on Wednesday and Thursday.

It is made on a budget of $105 million, meaning that the title will need to sustain itself in the theatres for quite some time. So far, the critics' reviews have been mostly positive, which might help the overall collection. Another interesting thing is its PG-13 rating, which might enable a wider range of audiences to watch the film.

Other films that are currently in the theatre include The Black Phone 2, Regretting You, Bugonia, and Sara's Oil. The 2004 crossover film, Alien vs Predator, enjoys the top spot in the franchise for the best Friday as well as opening ($16.4 million and $38.2 million).

Dan Trachtenberg and Patrick Aison have written the story, while the latter has also penned the screenplay. Trachtenberg is also one of the producers, along with John Davis, Brent O'Connor, Marc Toberoff, and Ben Rosenblatt. Trachtenberg had previously helmed the 2022's Prey as well as this year's animated anthology film, Predator: Killer of Killers.

The franchise began in the 1980s with John McTiernan's Predator, which starred Arnold Schwarzenegger. It is a big success that led to several installments and crossovers over the decades. In an SFX Magazine interview, Predator: Badlands' director hinted that he might have a third film in planning:

"After Prey came out, and I started thinking about sequel stuff, there were three ideas that I had. Killers is one, Badlands is two and the third one is something else. The reason why I felt possessed to make them and sort of why I rushed – I did two at once because I could do, I could multitask with animation – was because I was so eager to get to the third thing."

Predator: Badlands is playing in the theatres.
