"Would Lincoln Have Done That?" - Jeff Daniels reacts to Trump's viral AI video of dropping feces on "No Kings" protesters from a fighter jet

Actor Jeff Daniels shared his reaction to the viral AI video of Donald Trump dropping feces on the people at the “No Kings” protest. According to The Guardian, the protest is against the government’s policies, and it saw millions of people marching on the streets.

Discussing the protest with MSNBC’s Nicolle Wallace on October 21, she asked if decency was a luxury for people or if it only comes into focus when people realize that Donald Trump hasn’t improved the economy. Daniels said:

“I would like to think that decency and civility and respect for the rule of law and respect for things that are bigger than you, including the office of the Presidency, which is different than a monarchy will matter. First, it will be about the economy. It always is.”

He then mentioned the AI-generated meme showing Trump throwing excrement on the people and said:

“Would Lincoln have done that?”

At this point, Wallace said that she didn’t think even President Nixon would have done that. Jeff Daniels agreed, saying not only Nixon but also former Presidents like Reagan and Bush would not have done that.

Jeff Daniels said that people in the Midwest cared about being decent and polite. He explained that they didn’t get too caught up in what happened on the coasts and often felt proud of their own values. He believed that if a leader didn’t improve the economy as promised, people there would eventually get tired and vote for someone new, like they always did.

Elsewhere during the conversation, Jeff Daniels stated that the protest, rather than bringing eight million people to the streets, brought attention to what was going on. He said:

“And, you know, even today, there’s this that the other thing that the White House and this administration is doing that and people just go, ‘Uh.’ But, I think that those who voted for him because they didn’t want Kamala Harris or don’t like Democrats, never voted for Democrats ever, are paying attention if things cost more. And that was one of the things he promised, like any President.”

Jeff Daniels said that if Donald Trump had reduced the prices of goods and commodities, he would have been considered a hero. However, if he doesn’t, people would be mindful of that. Moreover, he felt that it was not entirely about the people who would stay with him, but also the ones who supported him, hoping that the President would make their lives better. The actor said that if their lives aren’t improved, then it would be like any other political party that failed to fulfill their promises.
