Avengers: Doomsday is bringing back some of the most iconic teams in the MCU for an epic showdown against Marvel's newest villain, Doctor Doom. Played by Robert Downey Jr., the antagonist will be up against five major teams in the franchise: the Avengers, the Wakandans, the Fantastic Four, the New Avengers, and the X-Men.
Perhaps the X-Men are the most surprising inclusion in the lineup, as they have never really interacted with the other teams on screen. That pumps up all the more excitement and anticipation among fans to see the X-Men back on screen, a sentiment shared by Famke Janssen, who previously played Jean Grey in the franchise.
In an interview with ScreenRant, Janssen opened up about her co-stars reuniting on screen for Avengers: Doomsday, as she expressed her excitement for the project. Speaking to the outlet, the actress says,
"Yeah, to be honest with you, I don’t really know the storyline, so I’m not sure. It’s not my world, it’s never been my world, really, that whole comic book world. I should know by now, I’ve been in it long enough. But I’m really excited to see when it comes out. Just like everyone else, I’ll find out what those storylines are and how it all ended up."
Janssen was last seen as Jean Grey in X-Men: Days of Future Past, after which she continued her career in different genres. She further opened up on how she loved expanding further in her career without repeating anything, as she added,
"Those were great films to be part of, and they’ve done so many good things for my career. It’s just amazing that over all these years, I’ve had these franchises, like the X-Men, or Taken for three films, or the Netflix series, Hemlock Grove, for three seasons, or Amsterdam Empire and a Bond film."
