“Yanked through a wall” – Karate Kid: Legends star teases never-seen-before fight scenes in the film

Karate Kid: Legends is an upcoming martial‑arts drama and the sixth entry in the franchise, continuing the story of the 2010 film. Its events take place after Cobra Kai, the Netflix television series. The movie premiered on May 8, 2025, in Mexico City and will have its theatrical release on May 30, 2025.

The film’s star, Ben Wang, recently gave an interview in which he teased some of its fight scenes, noting that he wanted to be yanked through a wall during shooting.

Ben Wang plays Li Fong, a character mentored by Mr. Han. He told Empire magazine that the action sequences—choreographed by a Chinese stunt team—align with Hong Kong cinema and differ from earlier franchise entries:

"So I knew that the action would be unlike that of any other Karate Kid film, and unlike most other action films in the West, because it’s a Chinese stunt team: these guys know how to shoot action in that Hong Kong, Chinese cinematic way. I grew up watching those movies. So I wanted to do that stuff – I wanted to wrap a wire around my waist and get yanked through a wall. And I did. It was awesome!"

He also discussed his scene with Jackie Chan, which they filmed after only a month and a half of training:

"Yeah man, I was shitting my pants. But… how could you not? On a month-and-a-half of training, I go fight Jackie Chan. You’re gonna shit your pants. But that’s okay."

Jonathan Entwistle has directed Karate Kid: Legends, while Rob Lieber is the writer; Karen Rosenfelt has produced the film. The official synopsis of the film reads,
