“Yeah that’s not funny at all!” - Internet reacts as Lili Reinhart uber “joke” spirals into full blown media frenzy sparking concern online

Lili Reinhart recently caused fans to worry after sharing a story of what she termed as a “scary” Uber ride. The 28-year-old actor shared the now-viral video on both TikTok and Instagram on Monday, May 26, causing concern across social media.

The eight-second clip shows Reinhart sitting inside an Uber, whose passenger door handles are taped over with duct tape. The Overlay text on her video read:

"If you never see me again, show this to the police,"

She even captioned the video writing, "Is this gonna be an uber horror story?" While there was no sound, the video and message were enough to cause concern for a number of followers.

At first, some had interpreted the video as a dark joke. But Lili Reinhart’s silence after posting the video left fans fearing the worst. A section of fans was angry and disapprovof ed the actress' humor. One Reddit user commented, saying:

"Yeah that’s not funny at all!"
"Eventually, someone will need actual help and no one will take it seriously because of "jokes" like this." Said an internet user.
"How old is she? I can't stand adults like this." Remarked another.
"The fact she's famous enough her fans could've actually ruined that Uber driver's life over that joke" Stated a user.

Reinhart finally broke her silence on Instagram Stories, putting fans at ease with a brief message saying, "I’m alive." In a subsequent post, she wrote:

"I'm alive. I never actually was scared for my life. I thought it was funny. Can we joke these days?"

Lili Reinhart's reaction to the public's worry sparked more criticism as some social media users noted that her reply was too informal and rude.

"What a strange thing to post. Feels like any woman should understand why this isn’t funny, what is the joke exactly?" Commented a user.
"It's such a sh**ty response. Blaming fans who were genuinely concerned rather then taking accountability for an awful joke." Wrote a fan.
"Imagine being upset that people were concerned for your welfare." Remarked another Reddit user.

Lili Reinhart, who is best known for playing Betty Cooper in Riverdale, is supposedly ready for a new phase in her career that involves indie films.

In a recent interview with Hollywood Reporter, Reinhart stated that she is opting for roles that improve her as an artist. American Sweatshop and Hal & Harper, her latest movies, delve into themes such as contemporary trauma and familial loss, revealing her versatility and depth.

"I’m moving away from network television and into indie movies and that’s kind of a big pivot and it takes time. I really connect with indie film and clearly indie television, which is what Hal & Harper was." She told Hollywood Reporter.

Lili Reinhart is also active on TikTok, where she posts spontaneous, playful content. She has strayed away from ASMR content to avoid being creatively boxed. She has diversified her career through her production company and her upcoming skincare line.

"I’m hoping within the next few years, when my projects start to come out, my fans will be able to have more content to grip onto that is of me as an actor" She added.
