A biopic on Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne is still in the works by Sony. Variety has recently reported that Polygram Entertainment, the production house behind the film, is looking for a director. A representative of the company revealed that “they’re currently in negotiations with a director, which could be confirmed very soon.”

The film was announced by Sony in 2021, and it would focus on Ozzy's relationship with Sharon, his wife and manager. It will be produced by Polygram Entertainment and Osbourne Media, the latter being the media label of the Osbourne family. Aimee and Jack, the children of Sharon and Ozzy, are also planned to produce the film with David Blackman, Andrea Giannetti, and Michele Anthony.

Lee Hall has written the script and is still attached to the project. Hall had earlier penned Rocketman, which was based on Elton John's life. Sony will be including Ozzy's music in the forthcoming biopic with the family's permission.

On July 22, Ozzy Osbourne passed away at the age of 76 in Jordans, Buckinghamshire, England. The cause of his death was mentioned as an acute myocardial infarction and a cardiac arrest, among other things. Lately, there have been several Hollywood biopics on prominent singers like Rocketman, Elvis, Bohemian Rhapsody and A Complete Unknown. Besides these, a tetralogy of films focusing on the Beatles is also in the works.

So the current time seems fertile for Sony to continue on Ozzy's biopic. Since his death, social media has been flooded with his songs and clips from his interviews and concerts. In the late 1990s, writer Ryan Jaffe had attempted to get his Ozzy biopic onboard, but it did not materialize.
