Yolanda Hadid recently took to Instagram to address the controversy after she posted pictures of her family members, including her granddaughter, Khai Hadid-Malik. This followed some Instagram users suggesting that it was inappropriate for her to share photos of her four-year-old granddaughter.
Khai Hadid Malik was born in September 2020 to parents Gigi Hadid, a model, and Zayn Malik, a former One Direction singer. Although her parents have separated since her birth, both remain committed to co-parenting and raising their daughter.
More on the incident as Yolanda Hadid claps back at people who criticized her for posting a picture of her granddaughter, Khai Hadid-Malik
Yolanda Hadid previously posted a family picture on Sunday to celebrate her son, Anwar Hadid's, twenty-sixth birthday. In a series of images capturing joyful family moments, Yolanda Hadid shared two photos of her granddaughter, Khai Hadid-Malik. In one picture, she is seen enjoying her time at the beach, although her face is not visible in either photo. One person posted a comment saying:
"This is really inappropriate. A child’s privacy should always be respected posting such a photo is not okay. Please think about how this might affect her in the future."
Yolanda Hadid responded to the person and others who criticized her by saying:
"Please go and harass somebody else’s feed. You are not welcome here!!!"
Yolanda Hadid previously talked about Khai Hadid-Malik in an interview with Architectural Digest, mentioning how much she enjoys having her granddaughter visit her in Texas. She added that she carefully curated the candy section in her house specifically for Khai. She said:
"Obviously, this [the house] is inspired by my granddaughter Khai when she comes, because she loves candy. I said 'Oma will make you one little section for you.'"
Both Zayn Malik and Gigi Hadid have maintained Khai's strict privacy throughout these years. In an March interview with Vogue, Hadid talked about how she raises Khai, highlighting her co-parenting methods with Zayn Malik. She said:
"Zayn and I do our custody schedules months in advance. That doesn’t mean that it doesn’t change here and there, but we help each other out and have each other’s backs."
Yolanda Hadid previously shared in an interview with Entertainment Tonight that she enjoys watching her granddaughter grow up. She said:
"She loves everything. Nature, horses, the little ants, she's careful with everything. She's just the joy of my life and actually the whole family. I think it's the most incredible time of life. And, like, yes, in America, I think grandma has a little bit of an old people connotation to it. But, you know, in Holland the oma thing, it's fresh, it's great. I'm 58, I think, 'Thank God we had this baby now, she's our greatest blessing.' And I'm just so joyful every day if I get to see her. It's incredible."
In the interview, she also mentioned that she sees her mother, Ans Van Den Herik, who passed away in 2019 at the age of seventy-eight, in her granddaughter.
