Seth Meyers recently opened up about the less polished aspects of running a late-night show, discussing how he handles the inevitable stress. He said:
"You couldn't ask for a better inkblot."

Seth Meyers talked openly about the internal strain of hosting Late Night with Seth Meyers and how he handles emotional outbursts without disrupting the team dynamic on a recent edition of Talk Easy with Sam Fragoso. He said:
"I think when you have a show like mine, it's really important not to lose your temper in front of everybody."
He continued:
"It's impossible to never lose your temper, so what I like to do is I like to just walk into his [producer Michael Shoemaker’s] office, which is right next door, and then I will just sort of yell at him, usually about someone else for about 30 seconds, and then I feel way better."

Meyers and Shoemaker began working together on Saturday Night Live (SNL) more than 20 years ago. Shoemaker, whose office is next door, has become Meyers’ de facto stress reliever thanks to their long-established working relationship.
Shoemaker has seen it all — the highs, the lows, and everything in between.
In another instance of Meyers losing his cool, he hit what he referred to as his 'breaking point' during the brief hiatus that Shoemaker recently had for knee surgery. A staff member informed him that he needed to try on a new pair of pants when he was getting ready for a "Corrections" segment. He was already "fully taxed mentally."
Meyers revealed:
"I took a Uniball pen when I was reminded of the pants thing, and I threw it across the room, and it exploded on the wall. And it's a great Rorschach. You couldn't ask for a better inkblot."
Shoemaker returned and decided to immortalize the mess that Meyer had made.
"We're gonna leave it as a memory of what happens when Shoemaker is gone," Meyers said. "And there's gonna be a plaque: 'This commemorates the eight days that Seth had to work without Shoemaker.'"
Seth Meyers' past outbursts
This wasn't Seth Meyers' first outburst; he's had plenty of them in the past as well, and Shoemaker was also there. In an interview with The New York Times, he revealed that once a sketch had been cut from the show during his time on Saturday Night Live, which caused him to slam his dressing room door so forcefully that the handle pierced the wall.
Back then, too, Shoemaker refused to fix the damage caused by Meyers so that he could remind him of how "petulant" he was.
