Future NFL Hall of Famer Jason Kelce has established himself in the media space since retiring. This is largely due to the popularity of his New Heights podcast, which he has hosted with his brother and current NFL star, Travis Kelce, since 2022, as well as his work on ESPN's Monday Night Countdown and several other ventures.
Recently, however, Jason Kelce has been making waves due to his post-football fitness journey, which has resulted in him losing 35 pounds since hanging up his cleats. On the latest episode of the brothers’ podcast, Jason shared that he’s all for showing off the results of his transformation.
“If I’m putting on a flamingo shirt, I’m peacockin’, you know what I mean? That rear end is gonna be out. I’m not gonna be hiding it under a baggy-a-- shirt. You’re gonna catch these buns, son!”
While a 35-pound weight cut may seem drastic, NFL players need to carry extra weight to help offset the wear and tear from a full season of games, particularly those on the offensive line.
Jason Kelce and brother Travis on Jason’s weight loss
The topic of Jason Kelce’s fitness was brought up on the latest episode of New Heights when he revealed that his weight had dropped to 265 pounds. Travis responded, “Dude, we’re the same weight?” to which Jason quickly replied in true brotherly fashion.
“That’s one of the benefits of weighing [the same as] your brother is you can go to Kansas City and steal his shirts and they fit again.”
This referred to Jason Kelce’s appearance at the Big Slick Celebrity Weekend benefiting Children's Mercy Hospital on May 31, during which he borrowed one of Travis’ shirts, decorated with pink flamingos. While Jason mentioned that he received some pushback on his choice to tuck the shirt into his pants, his response was simple,
“I’m a tuck kinda guy. I work hard on these legs, I’mma show them off.”
Jason was also quick to point out that his fashion choice had nothing to do with the fact that the shirt was Chanel; he wore it for his daughter, Elliotte.
“I wore that shirt because it had flamingos and Ellie likes flamingos. I didn’t wear that shirt because it said Chanel on it. I was just walking around and I said, ‘Oh, there’s some flamingos. Ellie will like if I wear that shirt.’ ”
Thankfully, Jason shared that the shirt received “positive feedback” from both Elliotte and his 2-year-old daughter, Bennett.
