Bretman Rock, the social media sensation, recently described an uncomfortable and unpleasant interaction he had with actress Vanessa Hudgens a couple of years ago at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival on the Sweet or Savory Podcast, hosted by Alyssa Navarro and AJ Rafael. Speaking about the uncomfortable and unpleasant interaction, he said:"Girl, you're not above me, I'm not under you. I'm Filipino b***h and you can't even like your own people?"Before naming her, he was using initials. After realising that not many celebrities had the initial V.H., he finally named her.According to Bretman, this is what happened back in 2017 or 2018 when he went to the SugarBear Hair activation area at Coachella to pick up festival passes. He said he went there to say hello to the brand's chief executive officer, whom he said he knew personally, and not Hudgens, who was there at that time:"Well, I met her at Coachella and we were there for Sugar Bear Hair because brands fly you out, you to go to Coachella. That's like a thing. Yeah, we were both there for Sugar Bear Hair. This was like young me, like short hair still me. So, I think like 2017 down, I think maybe 2018 even."Bretman Rock said, as he waved in the direction of the CEO, Hudgens, who was talking to him, seemed to misunderstand his gesture and responded by hiding behind her assistant:"So I'm like waving and I'm like I forgot his name honestly. It was, like maybe let's just say it was Chris, like, 'Chris!' like waving at him and not at her and she like like literally like looks at me and it like tries to hide."He added:"I'm like first of all I'm not saying hi to you. First of all, I was always Team Sharpay. Let's just get that out of the way."Bretman Rock managed to slip in a pop culture jab referencing High School Musical by joking that he was "always Team Sharpay," nodding to Ashley Tisdale's character over Hudgens' Gabriella Montez.Bretman went on to speak about Hudgens being mistaken for a Mexican:"Second of all, you're not even Mexican. Like, you're not. You're not. You're not."Bretman Rock, who is enraged at this point, added that Vanessa hid behind her assistant:"And third of all, I'm not a fan. Like, she had a second person there. I think it was her assistant cuz I don't know who she was. And she grabs her hand and makes her stand in front of her like to kind of like block her. Yes. Because at that point, like I was walking towards them to say hi to the CEO and that's why we're here. You know what I mean? And you know how she's been like dubbed as like the Coachella queen, whatever that means."He continued:"I just don't give a f***. I still don't give a f***. Girl, you're not above me, I'm not under you. I'm Filipino b***h and you can't even like your own people?"Rock went on to add that they both shared the same pass:"I was not f****** saying hi to you, Vanessa. There's no reason for you to be hiding or having to have your assistant hide because the only ones here are the ones invited. Like girl, we have the same rate. It's not like you're getting an artist pass and I'm getting a general. We're getting the same pass."Bretman Rock went on to add that he knew celebrity etiquette, and he knew when it was right and wrong to ask for a photo:"And I know time and place as somebody that has also been around famous people, especially at that time. Like I know when to ask for a photo and when to not."Bretman Rock and Vanessa Hudgens' tension didn't end there Back in August 2023, Bretman Rock seemed to have thrown shade at Hudgens when the latter visited Palawan, having struggled to pronounce the province's name, a moment that got attention since Hudgens had been named a tourism ambassador for the Philippines.Later that same year, Bretman seemed to take another dig at the actress when he acted like he didn't know who she was at the U.S. premiere of A Very Good Girl.Neither Vanessa Hudgens nor her representatives has provided any statement regarding Bretman Rock's claims.
