Journalist, author, and comedian Dave Barry is dishing some important pieces of advice in his all-new memoir, Class Clown: The Memoirs of a Professional Wiseass.
The longtime humor columnist has chronicled his life story in this new memoir, granting fans an insight into how he "Went 77 Years Without Growing Up," as seen on the cover page. As reported by People Magazine, its publisher describes it as a "vibrant celebration of a life rich with humor, absurdity, joy, and sadness." The book is riddled with wisdom and jokes, and its synopsis continues:
"Dave says the most important wisdom imparted by his Midwestern parents was never to take anything too seriously. This laughter-filled book is proof that he learned that lesson well."
As for the most important piece of advice, as reported by People Magazine, it reads as follows:
"If you spend all your days worrying about some horrible catastrophe that never actually happens, you’re wasting the only days you get."

Dave Barry is also asking himself the big questions when it comes to his book, including,
"How does the son of a Presbyterian minister wind up winning a Pulitzer Prize for writing a wildly inaccurate newspaper column read by millions of people?"
Now, America’s most beloved wiseass is slated to sit down for an interview with Mark Bazer of The Interview Show on WTTW on May 15. The event will take place at Chicago Hope Academy, and books will be sold at the event with Dave Barry in attendance for a signing.
In an exclusive excerpt shared with People Magazine, the comedian cum writer reflects on some of the important life lessons he has accumulated over the years, as seen below:
"Five of those things still strike me as fundamentally true, and worth passing along: 1. You should not confuse your career with your life. 2. A person who is nice to you, but rude to the waiter, is not a nice person. 3. No matter what happens, somebody will find a way to take it too seriously. 4. Your friends love you anyway. 5. Nobody cares if you can’t dance well. Just get up and dance."
In another excerpt, Dave Barry shares:
"It’s gonna be OK. Here’s what I mean by that: All my life I’ve been told that some Very Bad Thing or another was going to happen. I’ve been told that there was going to be nuclear war. I’ve been told that the planet would become an uninhabitable wasteland because of global cooling, and also because of global warming. I’ve been told that we were going to run out of food, and oil, and water. I’ve been told that civilization would collapse because of a pandemic. I’ve been told multiple times that a worldwide economic catastrophe is imminent. I’ve been told that the United States government was going to be taken over by communists, and also by fascists. I’ve been told that someday breakdancing would be an Olympic sport."
Dave Barry's book is scheduled for release this May 13, and is already available for preorder now.
