Zachery Ty Bryan is speaking out following a judge's decision to grant his alleged victim a five-year restraining order.

The Home Improvement alum told TMZ this week that his latest outburst involving domestic violence was a "painful wake-up call" for him, adding that he's on a "journey toward personal growth" and is now taking full accountability for his behavior.

The outlet previously reported that his victim, who reportedly claimed to have dated the star for 3 months, had told cops that Zachery physically and verbally abused her over the summer. As of this writing, however, there has been no formal complaint lodged against him.

Zachery Ty Bryan's abusive behavior against alleged ex-girlfriend explored:

In a statement to the outlet, Zachery Ty Bryan said he "deeply" regrets the damage he has done, adding,

"Domestic violence in any form is unacceptable." He added, "The truth is, I've struggled with the lasting effects of early fame, addiction, and poor decision-making, which have hurt people I care about and led to repeated legal issues, including DUIs and past domestic incidents. This latest situation, involving a restraining order and serious accusations, has been a painful wake-up call."

He also explained what his actions mean to him as a father, explaining,

"Being labeled a 'bad dad' cuts deep because my children are my world, and I know I've fallen short. Fame as a child actor left scars — being thrust into the spotlight at nine years old brought pressures I wasn't equipped to handle — but that's no justification for my choices as an adult."

He also shared that he has gone to rehab and is focusing on his sobriety and therapy, but explained that he has more work to do. He also shared that he is undergoing counseling, anger management programs, and support groups to tackle his abusive behavior.

Penn Live has reported that Zachery Ty Bryan's alleged ex-girlfriend told cops back in July that he hit her in the right eye after she playfully nibbled on him while they were lying down. Days later, they got into a verbal altercation, during which he allegedly threatened to kill her and said,

“Shut the [expletive] up or I’m gonna shut you up."

She claimed he then took their dog, locked himself up in a room, and began pounding down the door. She also claimed that he sprayed the dog in the face with some bleach.

Zachery Ty Bryan has now been ordered to maintain over 100 yards distance from his victim until September 29, 2030.
