Mike Tyson and Floyd Mayweather are set to battle it out in the ring next year, and the internet is unamused.

Mike Tyson took to his social media account to share a poster of the impending bout, where half of his and Mayweather’s faces can be seen side by side.

"Legend vs. Legend," the tagline reads.

However, users were snarky, suggesting that there was no need for such a showdown, as no one would be interested—even with both coming out of long retirements. Here’s how one user reacted, for instance:

"Zero people asked for this"

The comments didn’t end there. Scores weighed in to suggest that the next match could be rigged too, with many alluding to the fight Mike Tyson had with Jake Paul in November 2024, where he lost.

"No f*cking way am I paying for anything after the CLEAR evidence you were to NOT KNOCKOUT Paul. Pulled punches etc. made that fight a thievery of joy. Fool me once...shame on you. Fool me twice...shame on ME," one fan penned, emphatically.
"Mike, I love you man, but that fight with Jake Paul was as lame as they come. Dont think these fights are a good look for your legacy," someone else suggested.
"Tell us you’re broke in retirement without telling us you’re broke in retirement," another quipped.
"Real one this time?" a fourth user questioned, snarkily.

Users were visibly disappointed with the announcement after Mike Tyson’s last hyped-up fight, and the sentiment reverberated throughout the comments section of his post.

"I've always liked you, Mike, and I've never liked Mayweather. However, I've never been a fan of these kinds of fights. Too many legends make the mistake of fighting past their prime—guys like Chuck Liddell, Anderson Silva, Tank Abbott, Muhammad Ali, and Roy Jones Jr. They come back and got beaten by opponents who could never have defeated them in their prime, like Liddell losing to Rashad Evans or Ali getting dominated by Larry Holmes. I hope your fight isn't a mistake, Mike, and that you beat that arrogant POS," one user opined.
"You're loved by millions, champ. I wish you success and happiness in everything you do," another fan weighed in.
"I feel like this will not be staged and we’ll see iron Mike land the killer combo!!!!" someone else exclaimed.
"The "fight" with Jake Paul was embarrassing," yet another pointed out.

Seemingly no one was thrilled, save for a handful.

Everything we know about Mike Tyson and Floyd Mayweather's upcoming showdown:

The Daily Mail has reported that Mike Tyson, 59, sparked worry about his health ahead of his showdown against Jake Paul last year. Per the outlet, Mayweather will be 49 when he goes against Tyson, though he does hold a 50-0 professional record.

Nonetheless, Mike Tyson is convinced he'll win.

When CSI came to me about stepping in the ring with Floyd Mayweather, I thought, "No way this happens," but he said yes. This fight is something neither the world nor I ever thought would or could happen. However, boxing has entered a new era of the unpredictable - and this fight is as unpredictable as it gets. I still can't believe Floyd wants to really do this. It's going to be detrimental to his health, but he wants to do it, so it's signed and it's happening!' he exclaimed.

As for Mayweather, he trolled his followers by sharing videos of himself sitting on wads of cash, with music blaring on his private jet.

'S***,' he said. 'I'm pretty sure I'd be upset too if I were somebody else, I'd be mad at Mayweather, too. How the f*** for 29-30 years you can keep getting money like this? I'd be mad too, s***, I'd be hating on Mayweather too. Continue to hate, people only talk about winners, I'm a winner so continue to talk. Keep the bread fresh, put it in a bag. Call me the bread man.'

As of this writing, further details about their bout remain unclear, though the poster suggests it will be hosted by CSI Sports and Fight Sports.
