The film is produced by Showalter, Berry Welsh, Kate Churchill, Jane Rosenthal, and Jordana Mollick. Here's the official synopsis as per Letterboxd:
Claire Clauster organizes a special Christmas outing when her family forgets her in the shuffle. By the time they realize their mistake, she’s gone missing. Their Christmas is in jeopardy, but Claire has other plans.
Let's explore how the film ends and what exactly happens to Claire Clauster's family.
What is the plot of Oh. What. Fun.?
Oh. What. Fun. is about a lady named Claire Clauster (played by Michelle Pfeiffer). She is a dedicated family person who ensures that her family has the best Christmas every year. However, her kids and grandkids don't appreciate her efforts and take her for granted. One day, she goes missing.
How does Oh. What. Fun. end?
Oh. What. Fun. showcases Channing Clauster (Felicity Jones), Claire's eldest daughter, who says that she wants to host a celebration at her own house. Claire is upset, but she decides to go with the flow. But everyone forgets to wait for her for a dance show.
Claire then decides to drive off from the location and stays at a motel. Her car gets towed, and she takes a rented car to attend a set by Zazzy Tims. This is made possible through a VIP pass she had. Their family decides to call her, but she doesn't answer. The entire family then decides to share responsibilities.
Meanwhile, at the show, Zazzy learns that Claire has not been appreciated by her family. Zazzy calls the family on the show with Claire appearing as a special guest. However, the latter leaves. Channing then decides to approach her and realizes how much her mother has been doing for them. Sammy's former girlfriend, Mae-Belle, decides to woo him, but he is no longer interested in her. He starts seeing Lizzie after getting a message from her.
Towards the end of Oh. What. Fun., the storyline takes a one-year jump, and we see the Clausers' family enjoying a ski trip with Wang-Wassermans. We realise that Lizzie and Sammy have been in a relationship for a year.
Claire had spent her life working really hard on Christmas Eve. This time, we see her enjoying herself in a jacuzzi and drinking wine. The storyline concludes at this point as the family has recognised her efforts. Through her, the makers highlight the sacrifice and hard work that mothers put into what is often underappreciated. The roles have been reversed, and Claire is finally getting to enjoy the holiday as she rests with her family. Claire's going missing made her family realise her importance. But in the end, Claire's family is united and happy.
The film is streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
