In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, it was revealed that Wyatt Russell had met with a head injury whilst filming a stunt in Thunderbolts*.

Russell talked about his head injury, mentioning:

"I split my head open,"
"That was a blast."

The injury happened on Russell's hairline. If the injury had moved some inches here and there, it could have made a scar on his face. The injury needed to be stapled up, as revealed in the interview by Julia Louis-Dreyfus, who plays the role of Valentina in the film, as she mentions:

"You got staples in your head."

David Harbour, who portrays the role of Red Guardian in Thunderbolts*, adds an anecdotal sharing in the conversation about Russell's injury. He recalls the deadly incident by saying:

"I kept saying, 'Guys, this is really dangerous because we're running run in front of this little two-by-four that sticks out right here,'"
"'We have to duck into it. It's really dangerous, can we not do this?' They're like, 'Yeah yeah yeah, let's just go one more time.' And we came in, and I went through, and then Wyatt, and then I just heard, 'Oh!' And he went down on the ground. I remember I looked over and blood was just spewing everywhere."

To which, Wyatt Russell responded:

"Yeah, went to the hospital, stapled me up,"

Julia Louis-Dreyfus then says to Russell:

"You don't even have a scar,"

Upon which, Wyatt Russell reveals that he actually has one on his hairline. He mentioned that he was saved by a few inches; otherwise, his face would have been injured, leaving a scar behind, as he responded:

"Yeah, in my hairline. Three inches lower and I would have been the scar guy for the rest of my life. A lot of roles with cool scars in them. Would have been really good for the career. But that was fun."
