One year later: Sarah Michelle Gellar remembers Shannen Doherty with emotional photo montage

A year after Shannen Doherty's passing, Sarah Michelle Gellar honored her late friend and Charmed co-star with a photo montage. Gellar took to Instagram to post a video, which included a series of throwback photos from when they were younger, a birthday photo, and a picture of them riding horses. She captioned the image with only one heartbroken emoji and paired the video with Wiz Khalifa's See You Again audio.

Sarah Michelle Gellar and Shannen Doherty have been friends for more than 30 years. The two met while Gellar was filming Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Doherty was filming Charmed. Their friendship was wholesome, and in an old exclusive interview with Entertainment, Doherty described their friendship by saying:

"It's so nice for me to have a female friend that feels no threat, no jealousy. We have never felt that with each other... We've done nothing but lift each other up and support each other in our careers and champion one another."

Shannen Doherty passed away last year, on July 13, 2024, after battling breast cancer. She was only 53 years old.

Stars beside Sarah Michelle Gellar, who paid tribute to Shannen Doherty's one-year death anniversary

Besides Sarah Michelle Gellar, Shannen Doherty's colleagues and Charmed alum also paid their tributes to the actress' first death anniversary. Rose McGowan, who played the role of Paige Matthews in Charmed, took to Instagram and posted a photo of Doherty sitting down with two doves on her knees. She wrote:

"One year today you had to fly, but we on the physical plane of existence, think about you every day with gratitude and love," McGowan paired it with Sarah McLachland's Full of Grace audio.

Another Charmed alum who took to Instagram to pay their respects is Holly Marie Combs. She posted a few throwback photos of the two of them together, and wrote in the caption:

"It's been a year but it's been a minute for me. You still light the way for so many. And you are missed by so many. Thank you to everyone who did a #shandosunday post or prayer or just a passing thought. She would be so pleased. 🤍 1018"

Holly Marie Combs also posted a few videos to her Instagram stories with the hashtag #ShandoSunday.
