Once we involved the friends, it started to click more into place. I remember… being nervous when we showed it to Noah. Because so much of it is close to what he’s been through. It had to be truthful for him on two fronts.”The Duffer Brothers urged the audience not to compare the finale with that of Game of Thrones. However, they explained that, unlike fan speculation, there was “not going to be a Red Wedding situation.”“We’re not trying to shock or upset anyone. I hope by the time people get to the end of the finale that it just feels like there’s something inevitable about what happens,” Matt shared. When asked what lengths they went to keep the ending a “secret,” he mentioned that all they did was to hire a “really good security team” who did their best to keep the paparazzi away. Additionally, the script of the last episode was “printed on red paper,” which, although it was “annoying,” seemed to have served its purpose. However, Duffer clarified that they didn’t shoot “multiple endings” as they didn’t have “time” to “trick people.” The brothers also mentioned limiting the distribution and providing the scripts to the cast at the last moments as “extra precautions.”Stranger Things was first released in July 2016. Since then, its four seasons have had record-breaking viewership. Volume 1 of Season 5 was released earlier this year on November 26 worldwide. The finale is expected on December 31. The latest and final season has a total of eight episodes divided into four, three, and one, respectively.“This is the end of the story for these characters of Hawkins, for Upside Down,” the writer-director duo confirmed. The Duffer Brothers also told THR that they are in the “early days of a live-action spinoff.” However, their deal with Paramount isn’t final yet. Meanwhile, they would be creating an animated sequel series called Stranger Things: Tales from ’85.
