The recent buddy action film, Playdate, by Neil Goldman stars Kevin James and Alan Ritchson in the leads alongside some talented actors like Alan Tudyk, Isla Fisher, and more. However, critics do not seem to like it much, given its current ratings on Rotten Tomatoes.
As of this writing, the film holds a poor score of 17% on the review aggregator website's Tomatometer. Though fans weren't that harsh on it, as the Popcornmeter shows a rating of 59% there, it's not good enough to lift up the popcorn bucket.
Its synopsis (via IMDb) reads,
"Brian has just been fired from his job. He becomes a stay-at-home dad. He accepts a playdate invitation from another stay-at-home dad who turns out to be a loose cannon."
Despite Playdate not becoming a fan favorite, it does have some songs that you might like. All in all, it had eight in the film, which we will discuss below.
Which songs appear in Playdate
Carmina Burana: O Fortuna by Carl Orff
The first song in this list is also the first in the movie. It comes during a high-speed chase on a freeway where Jeff (Alan Ritchson) is driving the van with Brian (Kevin James) and Lucas (Benjamin Pajak) in it.
Big Bootys Winning by Ms. Money
This song plays at an awkward moment in the film, where Lucas dances in front of Brian, his stepdad, and Emily (Sarah Chalke). The song comes from Ms. Money, but currently doesn't have many views on YouTube.
Boogie Shoes by KC and The Sunshine Band
There are a couple of things happening when this song comes. On one hand, Jeff is fighting an assassin, and on the other, a fox mascot is harassing Brian.
Gimme Some Lovin' by The Spencer Davis Group
At the same place where Jeff is fighting and Brian is being harassed, a shootout begins, and Brian, alongside Jeff and the kids, escapes from there. That's the opening sequence in the movie, the high-speed chase.
The Rhythm of the Night by Corona
With this song, the high-speed chase on the freeway becomes more intense as it continues. Now they are driving in the suburbs and crashing here and there like crazy. The song came out in 1993 by the Italian band Corona and stayed on top of the country charts for eight consecutive weeks.
Bayou Belle by Jay Ramsey
When Bayou Belle by Jay Ramsey plays in Playdate, Brian is looking for Simon Maddox (Alan Tudyk), and Jeff is bonding with his son, CJ (Banks Pierce).
Earthquake by Pretti Emage
This is quite a scenario, Jeff and Brian are in. There's a standoff, and they are trying to tackle this situation. While all of this is happening, Simon Maddox also enters the playing field.
Give It Up by KC and the Sunshine Band
The final song in this list again comes from KC and the Sunshine Band, and it comes during a sequence at the end where Jeff and Brian conquer a big bunch of soldiers.
