Pluribus is down three episodes already, with the third one directed and written by Gordon Smith. Vince Gilligan, who created the show, has directed the first two. Recently, Gordon was speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, where he shared the show's title.
When asked if the show was called Wycaro 339, he said:
"No, it was never called Wycaro 339. It was always a code name. There were dark times. We pitched a ton of titles for the show. We had a list. And as we were figuring out what the show really was and really felt like, we would ask ourselves what title felt best. Some titles skewed too much into the horror of the first episode, and that’s not really the tone of the show. Titles like Signal get a partial sense of the show, but they really miscue what the feeling of the whole thing is. So those got left by the wayside."
Gordon Smith will also direct the fifth episode of Pluribus, which is set for release on November 28, 2025. Ariel Levine will be writing. However, there are still no details on who will be directing the fourth one, which will stream on Apple TV on November 21, 2025.
Gordon's niece gave Gordon the idea for the Pluribus code

Ideas can come from anywhere and not just the crew involved with the project, which was also the case for this codename of Pluribus. Gordon revealed that it came from his niece. He said:
"We had a variety of code names to sync up different parts of the process. So it was Wycaro for production, and then we had a different code name for post. People are detectives these days, and they like to find little tidbits, so we tried to keep things under wraps as we best could. My sister once said to me, “You don’t even know what the title is?” And then my niece — who’s a Saul fan and spends time on Reddit — very confidently said to me, “Oh, I know what it is. It’s called Wycaro 339.” And I was like, “Okay, sure.”"
Interestingly, Pluribus had something with "Wycaro" in it. The book Carol Sturka (Rhea Seehorn), the miserable protagonist of the show, was writing before the population of the earth became the hive mind, is called The Winds of Wycaro.
What is Pluribus about?
The new Vince Gilligan show is about a transmission that was sent to Earth and turned out to be some kind of recipe for a virus. Whoever comes in contact with this, that individual becomes a part of a hive mind connecting every human affected by it.
So far, only 13 individuals, including Carol, are unaffected by it. However, other than Carol, the rest believe whatever happened, happened for good. She is still trying to find a way to get rid of all this and bring humanity back to normal, but that isn't really working out.
Additionally, she needs to keep her emotions in check because every time she is cruel to any human in the happy hive mind, people die. And when that happens, she retches.
